UKPSC Cut Off: Previous Year Upper PCS Prelims Cut-Off Marks
The UKPSC cut-off is the minimum score a candidate needed in a given year to move to the next stage of the Uttarakhand Combined State Civil/Upper Subordinate Services Examination. The Commission releases Prelims cut-offs category-wise and post-wise, based on General Studies Paper I marks out of 150. The CSAT paper is only qualifying at 33%, so it does not affect the cut-off.
Cut-offs change every year with paper difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat the figures below as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.
UKPSC Prelims Cut-Off 2025
UKPSC released the 2025 Prelims result and cut-off on 8 October 2025. The table shows the cut-off for the main combined group of posts, which includes Deputy Collector and Police Deputy Superintendent. Specialised posts had separate cut-offs, some much lower and a few higher.
Category | Cut-off 2025 (out of 150) |
|---|---|
Unreserved (UR) | 92.8468 |
UR, Uttarakhand women | 88.7087 |
UR, state movement participants | 74.2265 |
OBC | 92.8470 |

Cut-Off Trend: 2022 vs 2025
Category | Prelims 2022 | Prelims 2025 |
|---|---|---|
Unreserved | 91.9309 | 92.8468 |
OBC | 87.5040 | 92.8470 |
EWS | 84.1185 | 92.0712 |
SC | 71.8787 | 87.9330 |
ST | 84.8994 | 90.2610 |
UR, Uttarakhand women | 78.6491 | 88.7087 |
The unreserved cut-off barely moved, but reserved categories rose sharply, and the gap between categories has narrowed to a few marks. In 2025, OBC and EWS candidates needed almost the same score as unreserved candidates.
What Affects the UKPSC Cut-Off
Vacancies: Fewer posts in a category mean fewer candidates are called to Mains, which pushes the cut-off up.
Paper difficulty: A tougher General Studies paper lowers scores across the board.
Competition: More applicants, and more repeat candidates who know the paper well, raise the bar.
Negative marking: Since 0.25 marks is lost per wrong answer, accuracy decides who clears a cut-off measured in decimals.
How to Set Your Target
Recent cut-offs for the main posts sit around 88 to 93 marks out of 150. A safe working target is about 100 marks in General Studies, with CSAT comfortably above the 33% line of 49.5 marks. In practice tests, track your net score after negative marking, not the number of questions attempted.
