UKPSC Upper PCS Study Notes 2026: What to Make and Revise
UKPSC Upper PCS notes for prelims and Mains, with an Uttarakhand-focused plan to organise and revise them.
The UKPSC Combined State Civil/Upper Subordinate Services Examination tests you twice on the same ground: first through objective questions in the prelims, then through descriptive answers in the Mains. The Mains has eight papers, including General Hindi, Essay, four General Studies papers and two full papers on the State of Uttarakhand. Good UKPSC Upper PCS study notes therefore need to do two jobs: help you recall facts fast for the prelims and give you ready material for written answers.
Here is what to put in your notes, how to organise them and how to revise them.

How to Organise Your Notes
One page per topic: Keep each topic to a single sheet of key facts, so a full subject can be revised in one sitting.
An Uttarakhand fact file: Two Mains papers depend on it, so give the state its own notebook with tables of districts, rivers, dams, personalities and schemes.
A value-addition bank for Mains: Collect data points, examples and committee names you can drop into answers across GS papers.
A monthly current affairs file: Split it into national, international and Uttarakhand sections.
An error log: Add every fact you get wrong in a mock test. These notes are usually the most valuable pages you own.
A Simple Revision Schedule
Same week: Read new notes once within seven days of making them.
Every month: Revise each subject fully and update your current affairs file.
Final six to eight weeks: Switch to short notes, the Uttarakhand fact file and your error log only.
Sources to Build Notes From
Start with NCERT textbooks for basics, standard reference books for each subject, and Uttarakhand government publications for state facts.
