UKPSC Upper PCS Notes 2026: What to Write and Revise
How to make short, revisable notes for Prelims, Mains and the Uttarakhand papers.
Good UKPSC Upper PCS notes are short, organised by paper and easy to revise in the last weeks. The syllabus is wide, and it follows the UPSC pattern closely with extra weight on Uttarakhand, so notes work best when they hold only what you are likely to forget. This page covers what to include, how to organise it and when to revise.
The 2026 Prelims is proposed for 29 November 2026 (tentative). Check the official UKPSC website for the final schedule and the full syllabus.
What to Include
Area | What to note |
|---|---|
History and culture | Timelines, movements, key personalities, Uttarakhand heritage |
Geography | Physical features, rivers, climate, state geography and disaster-prone zones |
Polity and governance | Constitutional articles, institutions, state administration |
Economy | Basic concepts, budget terms, state economy and schemes |
Environment and science | Biodiversity, protected areas, climate terms, current developments |
CSAT | Formulas, shortcuts and reasoning patterns you often miss |
How to Organise Your Notes
Short subject notes: Keep one to two pages per topic, in your own words, not copied from the book.
Uttarakhand file: Keep state facts separate so you can revise GS V and VI quickly, since they carry 400 of 1,500 Mains marks.
Formula sheet: For CSAT, list formulas and tricks on a single sheet.
Error log: Record every mistake from mock tests with the correct answer.
Monthly current affairs: Note national and Uttarakhand events and revise them at month end.
Revision Schedule
Daily: Spend 20 to 30 minutes on the notes you made that week.
Weekly: Revise one subject fully and take a test on it.
Monthly: Revise current affairs notes and the error log.
Last two weeks: Read only your notes and error log. Avoid new sources.
Reliable Sources
Build notes from the syllabus in the official notification, standard textbooks and authentic Uttarakhand government publications. Do not rely on a single coaching summary, and cross-check any date or number before you write it down.
