UPSC CAPF AC Study Notes 2027: What to Note and Revise
Study notes for the UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandant exam, with a guide to what to note for Paper 1 and Paper 2 and how to revise them.
UPSC CAPF AC study notes are short, revision-ready summaries of the syllabus for the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination. Good notes serve two papers at once: Paper I tests facts in 125 objective questions, and Paper II asks you to use the same knowledge in essays and arguments. Notes that only list facts help with Paper I but leave you with nothing to write in Paper II.
This page explains what to note for each area, how to organise your notes, and how to revise them before the exam.
What to Include in CAPF AC Notes
Area | What to note |
|---|---|
General mental ability | Formula sheet, shortcut methods and question types you get wrong |
History and polity | Freedom struggle timeline, key Articles, constitutional bodies and landmark judgments |
Geography and economy | Maps of borders and neighbours, rivers and passes, basic economic terms and schemes |
General science | Everyday science facts, technology terms, environment and health |
Internal security and human rights | Border management, left-wing extremism, insurgency in the North-East, cyber security, role of each CAPF, human rights bodies |
Current events | Monthly one-page summaries: national, international, defence and security, awards, sports |
Paper II | Essay theme bank, data points and examples, précis and report formats |
How to Organise Your Notes
Short notes per topic: One or two pages per topic, written after you finish studying it, not while reading.
Essay theme bank: For each recurring theme, such as border security, women in the forces or human rights, note two arguments for, two against, and one or two facts or examples. This turns Paper I knowledge into Paper II material.
Error log: After every mock test, record the question, why you got it wrong and the correct concept. Revise this log every week.
Monthly current affairs file: Keep a separate page each month for internal security and border issues, since they feed both papers.
Revision Schedule
Within a week of making a note: Read it once to fix the facts.
Every weekend: Revise that week's notes and your error log.
Every month: Revise the month's current affairs file and take a test on it.
Last six weeks: Revise only from your own notes and error log, not new books.
