Criterion-referenced test
A test that compares a student against a fixed standard, not against other students.
What is a criterion-referenced test?
A criterion-referenced test sets out in advance what counts as a pass or a certain level. Each student is judged only against that standard.
In theory every student can pass, or every student can fail, because the result does not depend on how others performed.
