Negative marking
A scoring rule that takes marks away for each wrong answer.
What is negative marking?
Under negative marking, a wrong answer reduces the total score by a set fraction of the marks for that question. Unattempted questions usually lose nothing.
The rule discourages blind guessing, so candidates need to decide when an answer is worth the risk.
