Airports Authority of India Junior Assistant

AAI Junior Assistant is a recruitment exam conducted by Airports Authority of India for assistant-cadre recruitment, relevant to candidates preparing for recruitment at public sector undertakings and central institutions.

AAI Junior Assistant is a non-executive post (level NE-4) in the Airports Authority of India. AAI does not run one national exam for it. Each regional headquarters (Northern, Western, Eastern, Southern and North Eastern) publishes its own notification, and only candidates domiciled in that region's states can apply. Most vacancies are for Junior Assistant (Fire Service). Some cycles also include Junior Assistant (Office) or Junior Assistant (HR).

As of 11 October 2026, AAI has not released a new Junior Assistant notification this year. The most recent one is the North Eastern Region notification Advt. No. 01/2025/DR/NER, released on 6 December 2025. This page uses the last official cycle of each region as the reference for eligibility, fees, the CBT, the physical tests, salary and cut-offs. Check the AAI careers page for the next notification.

Part B

Total

100 marks

2 hours

There is no negative marking. Minimum qualifying marks are 50 out of 100 for UR, EWS and OBC and 40 for SC and ST. The notifications state marks and weightage, not the number of questions.

Second stage

  • Fire Service: biometric check and document verification, physical measurement and medical test, a driving test on a light motor vehicle, then a Physical Endurance Test (PET) of five events worth 20 marks each. You need at least 60 out of 100 in the PET.

  • Office and HR: a qualifying computer literacy test in MS Office, then document verification.

What this means for you:

  • CBT decides merit: the final merit list is based on CBT marks only, so every mark there counts.

  • Attempt everything: with no negative marking, leaving a question blank has no benefit.

  • PET is pass or fail: it does not add to merit, but failing it ends your candidature, so train for it alongside your CBT preparation.

Selection Process

  1. CBT: 100 marks, qualifying minimums apply, and merit is drawn from it.

  2. Shortlisting: in recent cycles, candidates were called for the second stage at five times the category-wise vacancies.

  3. Second stage: document verification, then medical, driving test and PET (Fire Service) or computer literacy test (Office and HR).

  4. Training: Fire Service recruits complete an 18-week Basic Training Course with a stipend of Rs. 25,000 a month and a service bond.

If two candidates have equal CBT marks, the older candidate ranks higher; if age is also equal, the higher Part A score decides.

How to Prepare for AAI Junior Assistant

  • Start with Part A: 10th-level mathematics and science are scoring and decide tie-breaks.

  • Build a daily GK habit: 30 minutes on current affairs and static GK, with monthly notes.

  • Practise reasoning and English daily: short timed sets keep speed up.

  • Train physically early (Fire Service): the 100 m run, climbing and carrying events need weeks of practice, not days.

  • Learn MS Office (Office and HR): practise Word, Excel and PowerPoint tasks on a computer.

For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt AAI Junior Assistant online tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to plan your revision.
