The AIIMS CRE paper rewards candidates who have practised its format as much as those who know the subject. The test has 100 questions in five sections, and each section locks after 18 minutes. A mock test that ignores this rule is only half useful. This page explains what a good AIIMS CRE mock test should look like, how to choose one for your group code, and how to review every attempt.
What an AIIMS CRE Mock Test Should Match
Feature | CRE-5 format |
|---|---|
Questions | 100 multiple-choice questions |
Marks | 400, with +4 for correct and -1 for wrong |
Duration | 90 minutes |
Sections | Five sections of 20 questions, 18 minutes each, no return |
Split | 20 questions on general knowledge, aptitude and computers, 80 on your domain |
Language | Bilingual or English only, depending on the group |
Check these details before you attempt any test.
Choose Mocks by Group Code
Since 80 of the 100 questions come from your domain, a generic mock gives you limited value. Match the test to your group.
Administrative groups: look for general administration, CCS rules and FR/SR.
Clerical and attendant groups: look for general maths and English.
Clinical and paramedical groups: look for tests in your subject, such as nursing, pharmacy or radiography.
Engineering and trade groups: look for civil, electrical, AC and refrigeration or trade papers.
How to Use Mock Tests Through Your Preparation
Early phase
Start with 18-minute sectional drills. The aim is to finish 20 questions in one window and learn to flag a stuck question instead of fighting it.
Middle phase
Move to one full-length test a week. Keep the five-section timing exactly as it will be on exam day.
Final phase
Take two or three full tests a week and spend more time on review than on attempting.
What to Check After Every Attempt
Wrong answers: Fewer negative marks also help in tie-breaking, so note why each one happened.
Time per section: See which section you finish late, and which you leave early.
Skipped questions: Separate topics you did not know from questions you ran out of time for.
Domain versus common marks: The domain part carries 320 of 400 marks, so track it separately.
