State Government Recruitment

Allahabad High Court Group C Eligibility 2026: Age Limit, Qualification and Relaxation

Allahabad High Court Group C eligibility depends on the post you choose. All four Group C posts in the Uttar Pradesh Civil Court Staff Centralized Recruitment share the same age limit of 18 to 40 years, but the qualification ranges from High School with a driving licence for Driver Grade-IV to Graduation with shorthand for Stenographer Grade-III. The High Court of Judicature at Allahabad sets these rules for District Court posts across Uttar Pradesh.

The details on this page come from the 2024-25 detailed advertisements, the latest completed cycle. As of 28 October 2026, no new Group C notification has been released, so treat the dates below as a guide to how the rules work. The next advertisement will set a fresh age reference date and closing date. Check your eligibility against it before you apply, especially the CCC certificate and typing speed, because these are where most applicants slip up.

  • Computer certificate: CCC from NIELIT (formerly DOEACC Society).

  • Mathematics: Not compulsory in Intermediate for Junior Assistant. The advertisement notes it is needed only for the Amin Grade-II post within the comparable posts.

Driver Grade-IV

  • Education: High School (Class 10) from a recognised board.

  • Driving licence: A valid licence to drive a four-wheeler, held for at least 3 years before the date of the vacancy notification.

  • Preference: Knowledge of motor mechanism, with preference based on repair skill.

  • Desirable: Ability to read and write Hindi (Devanagari) and English.

Age Limit and Date of Birth Window

In the 2024-25 cycle, candidates had to be at least 18 and not more than 40 years old on 1 July 2024. In practice, that meant a date of birth between 2 July 1984 and 1 July 2006, both dates included. The same window applied to every Group C post.

  • Only one relaxation applies: If you qualify under more than one category, you get the single most beneficial relaxation, not the total of all.

  • EWS: The advertisements list no separate age relaxation for EWS candidates.

  • Disability: At least 40% disability, supported by a certificate from the competent authority, is needed for the PwD benefit.

  • Ex-servicemen example: A 48-year-old ex-serviceman with 6 years of military service deducts 6 years to reach 42. That is within the ceiling of 43 years (40 plus the 3-year relaxation), so the candidate is eligible.

Domicile, Reservation and Nationality

Reservation in the last cycle followed Uttar Pradesh rules as adopted by the High Court. Vertical reservation was SC 21%, ST 2%, OBC 27% and EWS 10%. Horizontal reservation was women 20%, dependants of freedom fighters 2%, ex-servicemen 5%, persons with disabilities 4% and sportspersons 1%.

  • Domicile rule: Reservation and age relaxation are available only to candidates domiciled in Uttar Pradesh, with a domicile certificate.

  • Candidates from other states: You can apply, but as a General (UR) candidate, paying the General fee and with the General age limit.

  • Women: A caste or domicile certificate from the father's side is treated as valid. The 20% horizontal reservation for women was stated to be subject to the outcome of pending appeals.

  • Nationality: Read the nationality clause in the new advertisement itself. The domicile rule above decides reservation benefits, not who may apply.

Other Conditions and Preferences

  • Preference for service: Two years of service in the Territorial Army, or an NCC certificate of the grade named in the advertisement, gives preference in direct recruitment when other things are equal.

  • Character: Character certificates from two respectable persons not related to you, issued within the last six months, are needed at verification.

  • Medical fitness: A medical fitness certificate, normally from the Chief Medical Officer, is required before appointment.

  • Government employees: If you already work in government service, you need a no-objection certificate from your employer.

  • Multiple posts: You may apply for more than one Group C post, but each needs a separate form and fee.

Who Is Not Eligible

  • No CCC certificate: Clerical and Stenographer applicants without a CCC certificate from NIELIT by the closing date.

  • Short licence period: Driver applicants whose four-wheeler licence is less than three years old on the notified date.

  • Below typing speed: Candidates who cannot reach 25 wpm in Hindi or 30 wpm in English. This is tested in the typing test, and falling short in either language ends your candidature.

  • Over age without valid relaxation: Reserved-category candidates from other states cannot claim UP age relaxation.

  • Incomplete qualification: Candidates who complete Intermediate or Graduation after the closing date.

Check these points before you pay the fee, because the fee is not refundable.

Application Fee by Category

The fee in the 2024-25 cycle depended on both the post and your category. Bank charges were extra, and the fee was not refundable.

Reserved-category candidates from other states paid the General fee. Candidates claiming horizontal reservation paid the fee of their vertical category. Each post you apply for needs its own fee, and Stenographer candidates applying for both Hindi and English streams paid twice.

Check Your Eligibility in Five Steps

  1. Pick your post: Match your highest qualification to the comparison table above. A graduate can apply for any Group C post; a High School pass candidate can apply only for Driver.

  2. Work out your age: Calculate your age on the reference date in the new advertisement. Add your category relaxation only if you are domiciled in Uttar Pradesh.

  3. Check your CCC certificate: Confirm that it is from NIELIT and that you have it in hand before the closing date.

  4. Test your typing speed: Take a 10-minute timed test in both Hindi (Inscript) and English. If your net speed is below 25 and 30 wpm, start practice now.

  5. Collect certificates early: Caste, EWS and domicile certificates take time to issue. Make sure they are current and in the format the advertisement asks for.
