Allahabad High Court RO Cut Off: Stage-wise Marks and Targets
The Allahabad High Court RO cut-off works differently in 2026 because the exam itself has changed. Under the detailed advertisement of 01 June 2026, the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad selects Review Officers through three stages, and each stage has its own kind of cut-off: a shortlisting cut-off in Stage-I, fixed qualifying marks in Stage-II and Stage-III, and a final merit cut-off on the combined Stage-II and Stage-III score.
No cut-off has been released for the 2026 cycle, because the exam had not been held as of 28 October 2026. This page explains what the official thresholds are, what the last cycle tells you and how to set a realistic target.
Types of Cut-off in the 2026 Exam
Stage | Cut-off type | Official threshold |
|---|---|---|
Stage-I (200 marks) | Shortlisting by rank: seven times the vacancies in each category | No minimum mark; the cut-off is the score of the last shortlisted candidate |
Stage-II (150 marks) | Minimum qualifying marks | 50 out of 150 |
Stage-III (50 marks) | Minimum qualifying marks | 25 out of 50 |
Final merit (200 marks) | Category-wise score of the last selected candidate | Declared after the final result |
The qualifying marks for Stage-II and Stage-III are fixed in the advertisement, although the Recruitment Committee may modify them. Clearing them only keeps you in the race; the final cut-off for each category will be higher.
Previous Year Cut-off: What Is Official
For the 2021 cycle, the High Court declared the cut-off marks (marks scored by the last selected candidate in each category and sub-category) for the Review Officer Recruitment Examination 2021, with the figures placed on the NTA recruitment portal.
Point (2021 cycle) | Official detail |
|---|---|
RO candidates registered | 90,597 |
RO candidates appeared | 45,770 |
Final RO result published | 02 March 2022 |
RO candidates in final result | 55 |
Cut-off notice (last selected candidate, category-wise) | 06 February 2024 |
Official cut-off notice: https://allahabadhighcourt.in/event/event_17595_06-02-2024.pdf
Category-wise RO cut-off figures circulating online for earlier years are not tied to an official notice in most cases, so they are not reproduced here. More importantly, the 2021 exam had no subjective paper and counted the objective paper in the merit, so its marks cannot be compared with the 2026 final merit, which is out of 200 and based only on Stage-II and Stage-III.
Competition Trend
Cycle | RO seats | Candidates appeared | What moves ahead from the objective paper |
|---|---|---|---|
2021 | 55 final selections | 45,770 | Objective paper counted in merit, followed by typing test |
2026 | 138 vacancies (minimum) | Not yet held | About seven candidates per vacancy in each category reach Stage-II |
The 2026 cycle has more seats, but RO, ARO and Computer Assistant are now filled through one exam, so the applicant pool for the common paper is large. Expect strong competition in Stage-I.
What Affects the Cut-off
Factor | How it affects the cut-off |
|---|---|
Vacancies by category | Categories with fewer seats usually see sharper cut-offs |
Paper difficulty | A tougher Stage-I lowers the shortlisting score; a tougher Stage-II lowers final scores |
Number of applicants | More serious candidates push the Stage-I shortlisting score up |
Post hierarchy | RO selectees are not considered for ARO or Computer Assistant, so the higher post draws from the top of the common merit |
The table below applies the official seven-times ratio to the 2026 RO vacancies. The shortlist sizes are indicative calculations, not official figures, and can differ because of ties, horizontal reservation and any change in vacancies.
Category | RO vacancies (2026) | Indicative Stage-I shortlist (7 times) |
|---|---|---|
UR | 58 | 406 |
OBC | 37 | 259 |
SC | 28 | 196 |
EWS | 13 | 91 |
ST | 2 | 14 |
Total | 138 | 966 |
How to Set Your Target Score
Stage | Official minimum | Planning target (not an official or expected cut-off) |
|---|---|---|
Stage-I (200 marks) | None; shortlisting by rank | Attempt all 200 questions (no negative marking) and score consistently in the top band of your mock tests |
Stage-II (150 marks) | 50 | Well over half of 150, since this paper carries 75 percent of the final merit |
Stage-III (50 marks) | 25 | 40 or more by keeping mistakes low; every 10 errors cost 1 mark |
These targets are planning benchmarks, not official or expected cut-offs. Review your progress every two weeks: if your mock scores have plateaued, the weakest syllabus heading is usually the reason. The section-wise analysis in Testkart test series can show you which heading that is.
Cut-off notices are published in the recruitment section of the official website: https://www.allahabadhighcourt.in/
