AP TET Study Material

AP TET (Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) is the state-level eligibility test for anyone who wants to teach Classes I to VIII in Andhra Pradesh. The Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, conducts it as a computer-based test. A pass is one of the essential qualifications for teacher posts in government, local body, model, residential, welfare, aided and private unaided schools covered by the RTE Act.

The latest regular cycle is APTET June 2026. Its notification was issued on 5 June 2026, the exam was held in August 2026 and results were declared in September 2026. A separate Special TET for in-service teachers is being held in October 2026. This guide covers dates, the four papers, eligibility, fee, pattern, syllabus, qualifying marks and a practical preparation plan, with links to the detailed page for each topic.

APTET June 2026 Notification Overview

The Commissioner and Director of School Education issued the APTET June 2026 notification and information bulletin on 5 June 2026. Applications ran online through the official portals from 5 June to 5 July 2026, and the test was held in CBT mode in two sessions a day.

  • Four papers: Paper 1A (Classes I to V, regular schools), Paper 1B (Classes I to V, special schools), Paper 2A (Classes VI to VIII, regular schools) and Paper 2B (Classes VI to VIII, special schools).

  • In-service teachers: Following the Supreme Court judgment of 1 September 2025 in Civil Appeal No. 1385 of 2025, in-service teachers recruited before the RTE Act who have more than five years of service left must qualify the TET. Their qualification criteria are exempted, and they appear in the paper for their subject.

  • Final-semester students: Candidates in the final semester of D.El.Ed, B.Ed or their special education equivalents can appear, but they cannot use the certificate for the TRT until they hold the full qualification.

  • Separate papers for languages and social studies: Since 2017 these have been separate tests, so candidates who passed the older combined paper must qualify in the paper for their subject.

AP TET is an eligibility test, so the notification carries no vacancies. Teacher posts are filled later through the state's recruitment test, and the TET score feeds into that merit list.

Common reasons for rejection or trouble later:

  • Unclear or wrong photo: Applications with no photo, an unclear photo or the wrong size are rejected and no hall ticket is issued.

  • Errors after submission: The form cannot be edited once submitted. A correction needs a fresh application and another Rs. 1,000 within the dates.

  • Unpaid fee: A journal number only confirms registration. You have applied only after the fee is paid and the form is finally submitted.

AP TET Exam Pattern

Every paper has 150 one-mark MCQs with four options, a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes and no negative marking. The question paper is bilingual: English followed by the Language I you choose.

What this means for you:

  • Attempt every question: With no negative marking, a blank answer can only cost you marks.

  • Pedagogy runs through the paper: In Paper 1, 6 of the 30 questions in each language, mathematics and EVS are on teaching methods, on top of the 30 CDP questions.

  • Paper 2A rewards your subject: The 60-mark subject section is the largest block, so it decides most of your score.

  • Pace: 150 questions in 150 minutes leaves about one minute per question.

Older pages may still show earlier patterns, so follow the current information bulletin. See the full AP TET exam pattern for section-wise detail.

How the AP TET Score Is Used in Recruitment

  1. Qualify the TET: Score at least the pass marks for your category in the paper for your class level and subject.

  2. Appear in the Teacher Recruitment Test: When the state notifies recruitment, the TET score carries 20% weightage and the written test 80% in the selection list.

  3. Meet the post rules: Qualifying TET alone gives no right to a job. The recruitment rules for the post decide the remaining conditions.

The certificate shows marks in each paper and the class level it covers, and it is valid for life under NCTE guidelines dated 9 June 2021 and G.O.Ms.No.69 of 25 October 2021. Pay depends on the post you are later recruited to, so check the recruitment notification for pay scales.

How to Prepare for AP TET

  • Start with Child Development and Pedagogy: It is common to every paper and pedagogy questions also appear inside the subject sections.

  • Use the state textbooks: Questions are set from AP State Syllabus textbooks, so read the relevant classes rather than general guides alone.

  • Do not neglect languages: Language I and English give 60 marks together and are often quicker to score than subject content.

  • Revise policies: NEP 2020, RTE Act, NCF 2005 and NCFSE 2023 appear in the pedagogy syllabus.

Mock Tests and Practice

Because the exam is computer-based with no negative marking, full-length timed practice matters as much as content. For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt AP TET mock tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to see where marks slip. Pair them with previous papers and the official online mock test to get used to the interface.

As reported from the results release, 45.63% of papers attempted in APTET June 2026 were cleared, and in-service teachers recorded 50.93%. The previous cycle, APTET October 2025, was reported at 39.27%. Treat these as context only and aim for a clear margin above your pass mark, since a higher score also helps your recruitment merit.
