AP TET Qualifying Marks 2026: Category-wise Cut-off

The AP TET cut-off is not a moving merit line. It is a fixed qualifying mark set in the notification for each category, and every candidate who reaches it passes the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test. For APTET June 2026, the Department of School Education set the pass mark at 60%, 50% or 40% of 150 depending on category, and the same criteria apply to the Special TET for in-service teachers.

Passing is only the first step. Your TET score later carries 20% weightage in the state Teacher Recruitment Test, so the real target is a score comfortably above the minimum. This page gives the official qualifying marks, reported pass rates from recent cycles and a practical way to set your own target.

The pass mark applies to the total score in each paper, and every paper is out of 150. For the PwBD relaxation, visually, orthopedically and hearing impaired candidates and those with autism need at least 40% disability; for hearing impairment the bulletin defines deaf as 70 dB hearing loss and hard of hearing as 60 to 70 dB loss in both ears. A medical certificate accepted for the TET does not by itself carry over to recruitment.

AP TET Pass Rates in Recent Cycles

Because the qualifying mark is fixed, the useful trend is how many candidates clear it. The figures below are as reported from the department's results announcements and have not been checked against an official results document.

90,862 candidates cleared 99,591 of 2,18,254 papers attempted; in-service teachers 50.93%, as reported

Pass rates have fallen from the high fifties to the forties in the last three cycles. That reflects the paper and the candidate pool, not a higher pass mark, which has stayed at the same category percentages.

What Affects Your AP TET Result

  • Paper difficulty: A harder paper lowers raw scores while the pass mark stays fixed, so pass rates drop.

  • Normalisation: Scores across shifts are normalised, so your final mark can differ slightly from your raw count.

  • Your paper choice: Different papers draw different candidate pools and topic depth, so pass rates vary by paper.

  • Answer key changes: Objections on the initial key can change the final key and your score.

How to Set Your AP TET Target

Treat the pass mark as a floor, not a goal. Results vary with difficulty and normalisation, so aim for a clear margin above your category's pass mark rather than a bare pass. A margin of 15 to 20 marks is a sensible working target, and every extra mark also helps your 20% TET weightage in recruitment. This is planning guidance, not an official figure.

  1. Set a mock benchmark: Aim to score your target consistently in full-length mocks before exam day.

  2. Protect the big blocks: Child Development and Pedagogy and, in Paper 2A, the 60-mark subject section decide most of the score.

  3. Use the no-negative rule: Answer every question, since blanks only lower your total.
