AP TET Syllabus 2026: Paper 1 and Paper 2 Topic Guide

The AP TET syllabus is set by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Andhra Pradesh, for the four papers of the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test. For the June 2026 cycle the SCERT released a suggestive syllabus covering Paper 1A, Paper 1B, Paper 2A and Paper 2B, and the information bulletin says plainly that it is suggestive, not exhaustive.

This page turns that syllabus into a working checklist. It shows what each section covers, which topics to start with, where Paper 1 and Paper 2 overlap, and how to plan your study. The topic lists below follow the official suggestive syllabus and the textbooks the bulletin names, so use them as a checklist rather than a complete list of every question that can appear.

Key Points to Know

  • ICT is part of the first section: As in the October 2025 cycle, the 2026 suggestive syllabus titles Part A as Child Development and Pedagogy with ICT Integration, covering computer basics, digital content, ICT policy, cyber safety and platforms such as DIKSHA and MOOCs.

  • Current textbooks: Questions follow the Academic Year 2025-26 State Syllabus textbooks, the 2014 to 2025 editions of D.Ed and D.El.Ed Telugu Academy books, and the 2019 SCERT D.El.Ed books (plus B.Ed books for Paper 2).

  • Thinking skills are tested: The bulletin says questions test critical, creative and analytical thinking, and conceptual understanding in Paper 2, not just recall.

  • Separate Paper 2A options: Languages and Social Studies have been separate tests since 2017, so prepare only the Part 4 option that matches your subject.

Pages written for earlier cycles may list older textbook editions or topics, so follow the current SCERT document on the official portal.

Child Development and Pedagogy with ICT (30 Marks)

This section appears in every paper. Paper 1 is based on the D.El.Ed curriculum and Paper 2 on the B.Ed curriculum of Andhra Pradesh.

AP TET Paper 1A and 1B Syllabus

Paper 1 content is based on Classes III to VIII, with linkages up to Class X. Paper 1B uses the same language, mathematics and EVS sections as Paper 1A; only its first section focuses on special education.

Constitution and AP geography

EVS is split evenly between science and social studies, so do not prepare only one half. In mathematics, numbers and arithmetic form the base for most other chapters.

Paper 1B: Special Education Focus

Paper 1B replaces the general CDP section with Child Development and Pedagogy (Special Education). It adds types, characteristics and educational needs of children with special needs, adaptations and accommodations, inclusive instruction, the Individualised Education Plan and teaching strategies for inclusion.

AP TET Paper 2A Syllabus

Paper 2A content is based on Classes VI to X, with linkages up to Intermediate. Language I and English carry 30 questions each on content only, and Part 4 carries 60 marks in the option you choose.

Languages (Language I and English)

English in Paper 2 goes beyond Paper 1: shades of meaning, hypernyms and hyponyms, proverbs, foreign phrases, prepositions, clauses, discourse writing, phonetics (stress, intonation, silent letters) and seen and unseen passages. Language I adds Sanskrit to the six Paper 1 languages.

Mathematics and Science (60 Marks)

Subject

Topics to cover

Start with

Mathematics (16 content, 4 methodology)

Number system and real numbers, sets, arithmetic, geometry, statistics, algebra, mensuration, probability, coordinate geometry, trigonometry

Algebra and geometry

Physical Science (16 content, 4 methodology)

Measurement, motion and laws of motion, gravitation, work and energy, sound, heat, light, electricity, magnetism, metallurgy, carbon compounds, atoms and molecules, chemical bonding, acids, bases and salts

Motion and light

Biological Science (16 content, 4 methodology)

Cells and tissues, microorganisms, nutrition, respiration, circulation, excretion, coordination, reproduction, heredity, ecosystems, biodiversity, environmental issues

Life processes

Each of the three subjects carries 20 marks, so a weak area in one can be offset by the others, but none can be skipped.

Social Studies (60 Marks)

Social Studies has 48 content and 12 methodology questions. Content covers diversity on the Earth (universe, maps, Indian relief, climate and rivers), production, exchange and livelihoods, political systems and governance, social organisation and inequities, religion and society, and culture and communication. The 12 methodology marks are a large block, so give teaching methods, curriculum and assessment of social studies real time.

Language Option (60 Marks)

Language teachers take a 60-mark section in their language (Telugu, English, Urdu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Odia or Sanskrit), with 48 content and 12 methodology questions. The English option includes prescribed prose such as essays and short stories, so read the texts named in the official syllabus.

AP TET Paper 2B Syllabus

Paper 2B keeps the Language I and English sections of Paper 2A, uses the special education version of CDP, and replaces Part 4 with Category of Disability Specialisation and Pedagogy (60 marks).

  • Autism spectrum disorders: Identification, curriculum adaptation, teaching approaches and assistive technology.

  • Hearing impairment: Assessment, early intervention, speech and language strategies, listening devices.

  • Learning disability: Types, assessment and interventions in reading, writing and mathematics.

  • Intellectual disability: Assessment, curriculum, IEP and behaviour intervention.
