APPSC Group 2 Syllabus 2026: Screening Test and Mains Topics

The APPSC Group 2 syllabus for the 2026 cycle is part of Brief Notification No. 37/2026, released by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission on 13 October 2026. It covers a Screening Test on General Studies and Mental Ability, a Main Examination with two papers, and a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). Unlike many exams, the Commission itself publishes the topic list, so the checklists below follow the official annexure.

This page turns that list into something you can plan with: what each stage covers, where to start, which areas overlap and how to schedule the weeks. The detailed notification is due on or before 10 November 2026, so recheck the official website, psc.ap.gov.in, for any change before you finalise your plan.

Points to Know Before You Start

  • Official topic list: The syllabus here is taken from the annexure to the brief notification, not from coaching material.

  • Degree standard: Both written stages are objective tests of degree standard.

  • Negative marking: Each wrong answer costs one-third of the marks for that question, so accuracy matters as much as coverage.

  • Andhra Pradesh focus: The Main Examination leans heavily on Andhra Pradesh history, economy and polity, so general national notes will not be enough.

  • Older pages: Older pages may still show earlier syllabus versions, so follow the official notification.

Screening Test Syllabus

The Screening Test has five parts of 30 marks each, which makes it a balanced paper. A weak subject cannot be offset by a strong one as easily as in a lopsided paper.

Section

Current Affairs (30)

Logical reasoning (statements and assumptions, arguments, conclusions, courses of action); number and letter series, odd one out, coding-decoding, relations, shapes; basic numeracy (number system, averages, ratio, percentage, interest, time and work, time and distance); data analysis with tables and graphs

Basic numeracy and data analysis

Modern history, welfare schemes and data analysis tend to give quick returns because they are structured and can be revised in short cycles. Current affairs is the least predictable part, so give it a fixed daily slot rather than a last-month rush.
