Assam Rifles Tradesman Eligibility 2026: Age, Education and Physical Standards

Assam Rifles Tradesman eligibility in the 2026 cycle depends on three things: the trade you apply for, your age on 1 July 2026 and the physical standards set for male candidates. A candidate can meet the age limit and still be rejected for a missing trade qualification, so each condition needs a separate check.

This page explains the qualification for each group of trades, age limits with relaxation, physical standards, the PET and common reasons for rejection. The details follow the 2026 advertisement as reported, and the final word rests with the notification on the official recruitment site.

Educational Qualification by Trade

Age Limit and Relaxation

Age is counted as on 1 July 2026. Your date of birth therefore has to fall within the window that gives you the minimum and maximum age on that date.

Post group

Age limit

Warrant Officer

18 to 25 years

Havildar and Rifleman

18 to 23 years

Category

Upper age relaxation

General and EWS

Nil

OBC

SC and ST

Ex-servicemen (General)

3 years after deducting military service

Ex-servicemen (OBC)

6 years after deducting military service

Ex-servicemen (SC and ST)

8 years after deducting military service

Relaxation raises only the upper age limit. It does not lower the minimum of 18 years.

Physical Standards

The notification lists these standards for male candidates. Weight must be proportionate to height and age as per the applicable medical standards, and no fixed figure was found in the reports reviewed.

Group

Minimum height

Chest (normal / expanded)

General, all India

170 cm

80 cm / 85 cm

Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from the North-East, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh

165 cm

78 cm / 83 cm

Scheduled Tribes

162.5 cm

76 cm / 81 cm

Some reports show a lower height for certain Scheduled Tribe candidates in specific trades. Check your trade and category entry in the notification.

Physical Efficiency Test

The PET is a qualifying run. Candidates in all regions except Ladakh must complete 5 km within 24 minutes, and in Ladakh the run is 1.6 km within 7 minutes. Practise on a measured track with a stopwatch and aim to finish a few minutes early, because rally-day nerves and weather can cost time.

Fee and Documents

The fee is Rs. 100 for General, OBC and EWS, and nil for SC, ST and ex-servicemen. Keep these documents ready for verification at the rally.

  • Education proof: Class 10 and Class 12 certificates and the ITI, diploma or degree certificate for your trade.

  • Date of birth proof: The Class 10 certificate or equivalent.

  • Category and special claims: Caste, EWS or ex-servicemen documents, where applicable.

  • Identity and photographs: A valid photo ID and recent photographs.

The rest of the cycle is on the Assam Rifles Tradesman recruitment overview.

Who May Not Be Eligible

  • Wrong trade qualification: Holding a general ITI or diploma that does not match the trade applied for.

  • Age outside the window: Being under 18 or above the limit on 1 July 2026, after relaxation.

  • Below physical standards: Missing the height or chest standard or failing the timed run.
