Bihar SLET Cut Off 2026: Category-wise Qualifying Marks

Bihar SLET does not work like a rank-based exam. There is no merit list and no fixed number of seats, so the "cut-off" is a qualifying percentage that every candidate must reach. This page explains the category-wise qualifying marks stated in the official advertisement, how normalization affects your score, and what to aim for. The source is the official advertisement at https://sletregistration.cbrt.co.in/SLET%202026%20Advt.pdf.

How the Qualifying Marks Work

  • Fixed, not relative: The percentages are set in advance. Your result does not depend on how well other candidates perform.

  • Same for all sections: The percentage is applied to the total of 150 marks. The advertisement does not describe a separate sectional cut-off for Library Science or General Knowledge.

  • Outcome: Everyone who reaches the required percentage receives an eligibility certificate. There is no ranking.

  • No negative marking: Each question carries 1 mark and wrong answers do not reduce it.

Normalization and Your Final Score

The exam may be held in several sittings, so scores are normalized to keep the papers comparable. The qualifying marks apply to the normalized score, not to your raw score.

The advertisement gives one example: a raw score of 76 became 74.90 after normalization, which is just below the 75 marks needed by a General candidate. The formula itself is not published, so nobody can say in advance whether your raw score will go up or down.

What this means for you: Treat the cut-off as a floor, not a target. A raw score only a mark or two above the line can fall short after normalization. Aim for a comfortable margin.

Worked Example

Suppose a General category candidate answers 120 of 150 questions in the exam, getting 100 correct. With no negative marking, the raw score is 100, which is comfortably above 75. Even if normalization reduces it by a few marks, the candidate still qualifies. Now take a candidate who gets 77 correct. The raw score is above 75, but a downward adjustment of two or three marks would bring the normalized score under the line. This is why the margin matters more than the exact number.

Common Mistakes When Reading Cut-off Information

  • Treating the cut-off as a rank cut-off: There is no merit list in this exam, so there is no "last rank" that qualifies.

  • Using raw scores for comparison: The official comparison is made on the normalized score.

  • Rounding the percentage: BC and EBC marks are fractions (68.25 and 63.75), so a raw score of 68 is below the BC line, and 63 is below the EBC line before normalization.

  • Relying on unofficial lists: Always cross-check with the advertisement.

Previous Year Cut-off Data

We have not found official past cut-off data for this exam in the advertisement or on the board's portal. Because the qualifying percentages are fixed, past results matter less here than in competitive exams with variable cut-offs. If the board releases a result notice or marks statement, it will appear on the official portal at https://sletregistration.cbrt.co.in/.

Be careful with figures quoted on other websites. Unless they point to a board notice, treat them as unverified.

What Score Should You Aim For?

These targets are suggestions for practice, not official numbers. They build in a safety margin for normalization.

78 or more

EBC

A simple way to reach the target is to score about 70 of 100 in Library Science and 30 or more of 50 in General Knowledge, since the Library Science section carries two-thirds of the paper.

How to Use Mock Tests to Check Your Level

A mock test tells you where you stand against the line that matters. Take a full 150-question paper in 150 minutes, note your score, and compare it with your category target above. If you are within five marks of the line, focus on accuracy in your weakest units first.
