BSF Constable Syllabus 2026: Written Test Topics and Study Plan
The BSF Constable syllabus for the written test covers four areas: General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude and Basic English or Hindi. This page covers the Constable (Tradesman) recruitment conducted by the Border Security Force, and it turns those four areas into a topic checklist you can study from.
BSF names the test areas in its notification but does not publish a detailed topic-wise syllabus. The lists below are built from the official test areas and from the type of questions that appear in this kind of paper, so use them as a working checklist, not as an official list. Physical tests and the trade test have no written syllabus, and they are covered in the later sections.

Key Changes to Know
Level of questions: the paper is set at around Class 10 level, so basics matter more than advanced shortcuts.
Selection order: in the 2025-26 cycle, the physical tests came before the written test, so only shortlisted candidates take the paper.
Section names: some websites list Numerical Aptitude and Reasoning as separate sections with different labels. Follow the names in the official notification.
Trade-specific content: the written test is common for all trades, and trade skill is tested separately in the trade test.
Older pages may still show a different section list or order, so follow the official notification on rectt.bsf.gov.in.
General Awareness Syllabus
General Awareness tests how well you follow the world around you. Expect questions on static topics and on recent events.
Area | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|

Current affairs and general science give the quickest returns, since questions are direct. Spend 30 minutes a day on them and keep monthly notes.
