BSF Cut Off 2026: Qualifying Marks, Status and How to Set Your Target

BSF cut-off is the minimum score needed to move ahead in a recruitment stage. For BSF, the picture is simple but often misreported. Physical tests are qualifying, so they have standards rather than cut-off marks. Written exams have qualifying marks and, where candidates compete for limited posts, a merit cut-off. This page explains what is official, what is only reported, and how to set a safe target.

The latest BSF-run cycle is the Constable (Tradesman) recruitment advertised in July 2025. Its PST and PET result came in June 2026, and the written exam was yet to be held when this page was drafted (29 October 2026). That is why no final cut-off exists for it yet.

We are not listing past cut-off numbers here because we could not confirm them from official documents. Any "expected cut-off" you see elsewhere is an estimate, not an official figure. Check https://rectt.bsf.gov.in/ for BSF results and https://ssc.gov.in/ for SSC results.

Qualifying Marks Reported for Tradesman

One source reports qualifying marks of 35 percent for General and ex-servicemen candidates and 33 percent for SC, ST and OBC candidates in the 100-mark written paper. That would mean 35 and 33 marks respectively. This is indicative and unconfirmed, so rely on the exam notice. Qualifying marks only make you eligible for the next stage. They do not guarantee selection, because the number of candidates called depends on vacancies.

What Affects the Cut-Off

  • Vacancies by trade and category: Cook, water carrier and sweeper have many posts, while carpenter or electrician posts are few. Cut-offs can differ by trade.

  • Number of candidates: More than 1.8 lakh candidates were shortlisted for 3,588 posts, which makes the written stage competitive.

  • Paper difficulty: A harder paper lowers the scores that qualify.

  • Normalisation in SSC exams: For multi-shift SSC papers, normalised marks are used.

How to Set Your Target Score

Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass. Use mock tests to set targets in each of the four sections, so no weak section pulls your total down.
