Good BSSC CGL study notes turn a large syllabus into something you can revise in days rather than weeks. The exam tests General Studies, General Science and Mathematics, and Reasoning in both prelims and Mains Paper 2, plus Hindi in Mains Paper 1, so well-organised notes are used across both stages.
This page covers what to include in your notes, how to organise them and how to fit them into a revision cycle alongside practice tests.
Table of Contents
What to Include in Your Notes
Section | What your notes should hold |
|---|---|
General Studies | Timelines for modern Indian history, key constitutional articles and bodies, major rivers and resources, government schemes |
Bihar GK | Dynasties, freedom movement events in Bihar, rivers and districts, festivals and art forms, state schemes |
General Science | One-line facts from Class 9 and 10 physics, chemistry and biology, diseases and vitamins, units and inventions |
Mathematics | Formula sheets for percentage, interest, time and work, speed, mensuration, plus short-cut methods you trust |
Reasoning | Patterns you see repeatedly in series, coding-decoding and syllogism, with one solved example each |
Hindi (Mains Paper 1) | Sandhi and samas rules, lists of synonyms, antonyms and idioms, common spelling errors |
Current affairs | Monthly one-page summaries, with a separate page for Bihar news |
How to Organise Your Notes
Short notes over long ones: If a page takes more than five minutes to revise, cut it down.
One formula sheet: Keep all maths formulas on two or three pages that you read every few days.
An error log: Write down every question you got wrong in a test, with the correct reasoning in one line.
Monthly current affairs: Close each month with a one-page summary instead of rereading daily news.
Revision Schedule
Daily: 20 minutes on the formula sheet or Hindi lists, plus the day's current affairs.
Weekly: Revise everything you studied that week and your error log.
Monthly: One full pass through Bihar GK and the current affairs summaries.
Final month: Revise only from your notes and error log, not from fresh books.
Notes on Testkart come from educators on the platform, so read the description of each set to see which sections it covers. For facts on dates, posts and exam rules, use the official Bihar Staff Selection Commission website rather than notes from unverified sources.
Where Notes Fit with Practice
Notes help you remember. Tests show whether you can use what you remember under time pressure. The best results come from moving between the two: revise a topic from notes, take a short test on it, and add the mistakes back to your notes.
