Engineering Entrance

COMEDK UGET

COMEDK UGET is an entrance examination taken by students preparing for undergraduate engineering admissions.

COMEDK UGET (Under Graduate Entrance Test) is the entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka for B.E. and B.Tech admissions in private engineering colleges of Karnataka. COMEDK runs the test on behalf of the Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association, which brings together around 150 member colleges and more than 20,000 engineering seats. Admission to these seats is through a single rank list and centralised online counselling.

This guide explains how the COMEDK UGET exam works from registration to seat allotment: eligibility, application fee, exam pattern, syllabus, ranking, counselling and preparation. The 2026 cycle closed with the final counselling round in September 2026, and the 2027 notification has not been released yet. Facts below come from the official 2026 information brochure and exam page, and anything about 2027 is clearly marked as expected.

Where the COMEDK UGET 2027 Cycle Stands

As of 30 October 2026, COMEDK has not announced the 2027 exam date, application window or brochure. The 2026 cycle is complete: the exam was held on 9 May 2026, scorecards were released on 29 May 2026, and engineering counselling ran through a mock round and four allotment rounds between July and early September 2026.

Past cycles give a reasonable idea of what to expect. In recent years COMEDK has first published a short notice with the exam date, followed by the full brochure and the opening of registration in early February. The exam itself has been held in May. Treat this as a pattern, not a confirmed schedule, and check the official website for the 2027 notice.

COMEDK states that www.comedk.org is its only official website. It also advises candidates not to use cyber cafes, consultants or unofficial websites for filling the form, paying fees or downloading the admit card.

Eligibility Criteria in Brief

COMEDK UGET is open to students from all states, not only Karnataka. The main conditions for B.E. and B.Tech, as per the 2026 brochure, are below.

Nationality

Indian citizens can apply. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) are also eligible, but they must submit the declaration given in the brochure's annexure.

Qualifying exam and marks

  • Qualifying exam: 2nd PUC or Class 12 (or equivalent) from a state or central board.

  • Compulsory subjects: Physics, Mathematics and English in the last two years, plus one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics.

  • Minimum aggregate: 45% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for General Merit, and 40% for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka.

  • Subject pass: You must pass each subject individually, including the optional subject.

  • Single board: All subjects must be from one board. Combining marks cards from two boards is not accepted.

Age and other conditions

COMEDK follows AICTE and VTU norms on age and does not print an upper age limit. Candidates who are below 17 years as on 1 January of the admission year must submit a declaration. Diploma holders are not eligible for B.E. or B.Tech through COMEDK, because there is no lateral entry through this exam.

Application Process and Fee

The application is fully online. One form serves both COMEDK UGET and, if you choose, Uni-GAUGE E, which is held in the same session. Based on the 2026 process, the steps are:

  1. Register: Create a login with your name, email ID and mobile number. These three details cannot be edited later, so enter them carefully.

  2. Fill the form: Add personal, category, academic and parent details, and choose up to three preferred test cities.

  3. Upload documents: Upload your photograph, signatures, ID proofs and certificates in the required format.

  4. Pay the fee: Pay online by net banking, credit card or debit card.

  5. Save the confirmation: Download and keep a copy of the submitted form and payment proof.

Application fee (2026)

Option

Fee

COMEDK UGET only (PCM)

Rs. 1,950 plus transaction charges

COMEDK UGET and Uni-GAUGE E (PCM)

Rs. 3,200 plus transaction charges

The fee is non-refundable. Card payments attract a small percentage charge plus GST, and net banking carries a flat bank charge. The 2027 fee will be confirmed in the new brochure.

Upload specifications (2026)

Document

Format and size

Candidate photograph

Recent colour photo (within three months), light background, full face visible; JPEG, up to 160 KB

Common reasons for trouble later include phone photos instead of scans, e-Aadhaar uploaded as ID (not accepted in 2026), and category certificates added after submission. Certificates for lower eligibility or KKR seats must be uploaded before you submit the form.

COMEDK UGET Exam Pattern

The exam is a single paper with equal weight for the three subjects. Every question carries one mark and there is no penalty for a wrong answer.

Chemistry

Mathematics

The test has been three hours long in recent cycles. The 2026 brochure does not print the duration, so confirm it on your Test Admission Ticket. COMEDK may run the exam in more than one session, and the session is allotted by a computer-assisted random process.

What this means for you

  • Attempt every question: With no negative marking, a blank answer can only cost you. Make an informed guess before time runs out.

  • Speed matters: 180 questions in about 180 minutes leaves roughly one minute per question, so lengthy calculations need shortcuts.

  • No subject is optional: Each subject is a third of the paper, so a weak subject pulls the whole rank down.

COMEDK UGET Syllabus Overview

COMEDK publishes subject-wise syllabus PDFs based on the CBSE curriculum. In 2026, about 33% of the paper was based on the Class 11 syllabus and about 67% on the Class 12 syllabus.

COMEDK does not publish chapter-wise weightage. The unit-by-unit breakdown and a study order are in our COMEDK UGET syllabus page.

Admit Card, Test Centres and Exam Day

The admit card is called the Test Admission Ticket (TAT). It is available only for download from the candidate login, and no printed copy is posted. The TAT shows your allotted centre, session and reporting time.

  • Test city: You can choose up to three cities. Allotment is on a first come, first served basis and subject to availability, so COMEDK can allot a different city. Requests to change the city or slot are not accepted.

  • Reporting: The brochure recommends reporting 90 minutes before the test. The exam hall opens 60 minutes before the start.

  • What to carry: The printed TAT, the original photo ID used in the application and two recent passport-size photographs. A transparent water bottle is allowed.

  • Not allowed: Mobile phones, calculators and other electronic items. They must be left in the baggage area.

Answer Key, Result and How Ranks Are Calculated

COMEDK publishes a provisional answer key a few days after the exam and allows candidates to raise objections online for a fee. The fee is refunded only for objections that are upheld. After review, the final answer key is released and scorecards follow in the candidate login.

Ranks are based only on the entrance test score. Because different sessions can vary in difficulty, COMEDK converts scores into percentiles within each session and normalises them before preparing the merit list. A candidate who scores zero is not given a rank.

Tie-breaking rules

  1. Higher combined percentile in Physics and Mathematics

  2. Higher percentile in Mathematics

  3. Higher percentile in Chemistry

  4. Older candidate placed higher

Mathematics and Physics decide ties first, which is one more reason not to neglect them.

Counselling and Seat Allotment

Seats are allotted through centralised online counselling based on the COMEDK rank. In 2026 the engineering process had a mock allotment round followed by four rounds of allotment, and COMEDK published closing ranks and vacant seats after each round.

  1. Register for counselling: Pay the counselling registration fee (Rs. 2,000, non-refundable, in 2026) and upload documents for verification.

  2. Fill choices: Select colleges and branches in order of preference.

  3. Check allotment: Review the seat allotted in each round.

  4. Decide: Accept and freeze the seat, or choose to continue to the next round as the rules allow, and pay fees within the deadline.

  5. Report to college: Complete admission at the allotted college with original documents.

The 2026 offer covered 77 engineering branches, from Computer Science and Electronics to Civil, Mechanical, Biotechnology and newer programmes such as Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

How to Prepare for COMEDK UGET

COMEDK UGET rewards wide coverage of the Class 11 and 12 syllabus and quick, accurate solving. In previous papers, many questions have tested direct application of concepts rather than long multi-step problems.

Subject-wise focus

  • Physics: Strengthen formula-based topics such as electrostatics, current electricity, optics and modern physics, where questions are quick to solve once concepts are clear.

  • Chemistry: Read the NCERT textbooks closely for inorganic and organic chemistry, and practise numericals in physical chemistry for speed.

  • Mathematics: Calculus, coordinate geometry, vectors and 3D, and probability cover a large share of the syllabus. Practise shortcuts and option elimination.

A simple preparation plan

  1. Build concepts: Finish Class 12 topics alongside board preparation, and revise Class 11 chapters in parallel because they still carry about one-third of the paper.

  2. Practise topic-wise: After each chapter, solve 30 to 50 objective questions with a timer.

  3. Move to full tests: In the last two to three months, take full-length 180-question tests every week and then two or three a week near the exam.

  4. Analyse and revise: Keep an error log of wrong and slow questions and revise it before each new test.
