COMEDK Cut-off 2026: Closing Ranks Explained
COMEDK UGET does not have a single pass mark. The COMEDK cut-off is the closing rank: the last rank at which a seat in a particular college and branch was allotted in a counselling round. Every college, branch and seat category has its own closing rank, and it changes from round to round and year to year.
This page explains how COMEDK publishes cut-off ranks, what the 2026 releases looked like, what moves the closing ranks and how to set a realistic target rank. Treat every past figure as a benchmark only, never as a promise for the next cycle.
How the COMEDK Cut-off Works
Rank-based, not marks-based: Seats are allotted by COMEDK rank, which comes from your normalised percentile in the entrance test. Cut-offs are therefore published as ranks.
College and branch specific: Each cell in the official list is the closing rank for one college, one branch and one seat category.
Category specific: Lists show the General Merit (GM) seats and Kalyana Karnataka Region (KKR) seats separately, so read the category column carefully.
Round specific: Closing ranks usually move to higher numbers in later rounds as seats are vacated and re-allotted.
Minimum to get a rank: There is no qualifying score, but a candidate who scores zero is not ranked, and you must meet the 45% (or 40% for Karnataka SC, ST and OBC) board marks rule to use your rank.
COMEDK 2026 Cut-off Rank Releases
In 2026, COMEDK published engineering cut-off ranks after each stage of counselling. The dates below come from the official counselling page.
Engineering counselling stage (2026) | Cut-off ranks notified on |
|---|---|
2025 cut-off ranks after all rounds (reference list) | 7 July 2026 |
Mock round | 14 July 2026 |
Round 1 allotment | 27 July 2026 |
Round 2 allotment | 7 August 2026 |
Round 3 allotment | 18 August 2026 |
Round 4 allotment | 1 September 2026 |
Each list runs to many pages and covers every member college and branch. For a fair benchmark, compare the same college, branch, category and round across two or three years, rather than relying on one number. As an indicative guide from previous rounds, closing ranks for high-demand branches such as Computer Science at the most sought-after colleges are typically in the low thousands or below, while many other college and branch combinations close at much higher ranks. Use the official PDFs for exact figures.
The 2027 cut-offs will be known only after the 2027 counselling rounds. Any "expected cut-off" you see before then is an estimate, not an official figure.
What Affects COMEDK Closing Ranks
Paper difficulty and normalisation: Because ranks come from percentiles, a harder paper does not by itself push ranks up or down, but it changes how marks map to ranks.
Number of candidates: More test-takers mean more ranks between you and the top, so the same score can give a different rank.
Seat matrix: New branches, extra intake or seats withdrawn by colleges change how far down the list each college admits.
Branch demand: Computer Science and related branches fill fastest, so their closing ranks are lowest.
Fee and location: Fees differ between colleges and are published with the seat matrix, which influences choices and therefore closing ranks.
Other admission routes: Students holding offers from other exams may give up COMEDK seats in later rounds, which opens seats for higher ranks.
How to Set Your Target Rank
List five to ten target colleges and branches: Note their closing ranks from the last two years in the round you expect to secure a seat.
Add a safety margin: Aim for a rank comfortably better (a lower number) than the closing ranks you noted, not a bare match.
Turn the rank into a score target: Since there is no negative marking, track your total correct answers in practice and aim to raise it steadily.
Check subject balance: Physics and Mathematics decide the first tie-breaker, so do not let either fall behind.
Where to Check Official Cut-off Ranks
COMEDK publishes all cut-off rank PDFs, vacant seat lists and fee details on its counselling page for each year. Download the round-wise PDFs from there rather than relying on copies.
