CUET PG, the Common University Entrance Test for postgraduate programmes, is a computer-based test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Central universities and many state, deemed and private universities use CUET PG scores to admit students to MA, MSc, MCom, MBA, LLM, MEd, MTech and other postgraduate programmes. The CUET PG 2027 exam is tentatively scheduled for March 2027 as per NTA's exam calendar.
The full information bulletin for 2027 has not been released yet. This page uses the official CUET PG 2026 information bulletin for the pattern, fees and rules, and the NTA calendar for the 2027 exam window. Anything not yet confirmed for 2027 is marked tentative. You will find the paper code structure, marking scheme, eligibility, fees, how universities use the score and a preparation plan below.

CUET PG Test Paper Codes Explained
CUET PG is not one common paper. You choose the test paper that matches the programme you want, and each paper has its own code. The 2026 bulletin listed 157 codes across six series.
Series | Covers | Number of codes (2026) |
|---|---|---|
COQP | Common subjects such as Commerce, Economics, General Paper, General Paper (MBA etc.), LLM, B.Ed., M.Ed., Mass Communication, Library Science | 22 |
HUQP | Humanities such as History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Geography, Philosophy, Social Work, fine and performing arts | 26 |
SCQP | Sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science, Statistics, Pharmacy | 30 |
MTQP | M.Tech and higher sciences such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Data Science and AI | 12 |
LAQP | Languages such as English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Linguistics, Arabic and many Indian and foreign languages | 41 |
ACQP | Acharya papers for traditional Sanskrit and Indian knowledge programmes | 26 |
Total | Six series | 157 |
The university decides which paper code is required for each programme. For example, one MA programme may accept HUQP09 History, while an MBA programme may ask for COQP12 General Paper (MBA etc.). Always check the admission page of each university before choosing your papers.
CUET PG Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
Test | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
Each CUET PG test paper | 75 MCQs | 300 | 90 minutes |
Each correct answer earns 4 marks and each wrong answer costs 1 mark. Unanswered questions and questions only marked for review score zero. Humanities, science and common papers are offered in English and Hindi, M.Tech papers in English only, and language papers in the language concerned.
Accuracy matters more than attempts: one wrong answer cancels a quarter of a correct one, so guess only when you can eliminate at least two options.
Pace is about 72 seconds per question: 90 minutes for 75 questions leaves little time to get stuck, so practise skipping and returning.
Each paper is a separate test: if you take three papers, you sit three separate 90-minute exams, usually in different shifts.
Older pages may still describe a 105-minute paper with a separate Part A for general aptitude. The duration was cut to 90 minutes from the 2025 cycle, so follow the current bulletin. See the full CUET PG exam pattern for a time-management strategy.
CUET PG Syllabus Summary
NTA publishes a separate syllabus for each paper code, grouped by domain: Science, M.Tech, Language, Humanities, Common and Acharya. Domain papers test your undergraduate subject knowledge. The two general papers are different.
Paper | Main areas in the official syllabus |
|---|---|
COQP11 General Paper | English or Hindi comprehension, general awareness, computer basics, general aptitude and logical reasoning |
COQP12 General Paper (MBA etc.) | English or Hindi comprehension, quantitative ability, logical reasoning, data interpretation |
Domain papers (HUQP, SCQP, MTQP, LAQP, COQP subjects) | Core topics of the related undergraduate subject |
Read the topic-wise breakdown and a study plan on the CUET PG syllabus page.
CUET PG Eligibility
Educational qualification
For the test, the 2026 bulletin allows candidates who have passed a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and those in the final year of a bachelor's degree. Passing the qualifying degree by the university's deadline is the candidate's responsibility.
Age limit
There is no age limit for appearing in CUET PG. Some programmes may still have their own conditions, so read the university's rules.
University-specific eligibility
Taking the test does not make you eligible for every programme. Each participating university sets its own minimum percentage, subject background, reservation and quota rules. A score is useful only for programmes whose eligibility you already meet. Details are on the CUET PG eligibility page.
Application Fee and How to Apply
Category | Fee for up to 2 test papers | Each additional paper |
|---|---|---|
General (Unreserved) | Rs. 1,400 | Rs. 700 |
Gen-EWS and OBC-NCL | Rs. 1,200 | Rs. 600 |
SC, ST and Third Gender | Rs. 1,100 | Rs. 600 |
PwBD | Rs. 1,000 | Rs. 600 |
Centres outside India (all categories) | Rs. 7,000 | Rs. 3,500 |
These are the 2026 fees. Processing charges and GST are payable on top. The 2027 fee will be confirmed in the new bulletin.
Shortlist programmes first: note the paper codes each target university asks for.
Register on the official website: create your account with a working email and mobile number.
Fill the form: enter personal and academic details, choose up to four papers and up to two exam cities in your state of present or permanent address.
Upload documents: a recent photo (10 kb to 200 kb, face clearly visible against a white background) and signature (10 kb to 50 kb).
Pay the fee and save the confirmation page: fix any errors during the correction window, as later changes are not allowed.
Participating Universities and Admission Process
CUET PG scores are used by central universities and a large number of state, deemed and private universities. Universities such as the University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University and the University of Hyderabad have used CUET PG scores for many of their programmes. NTA describes the list of participating universities as dynamic, so check the current list on the official website and each university's admission portal.
NTA conducts the test and declares the result: you get a scorecard for each paper you take.
Apply to each university separately: most universities open their own PG admission portals after the result.
Universities prepare merit lists: each university runs its own counselling or seat allocation using CUET PG scores and its own rules.
Document verification and fee payment: confirm the seat within the university's deadline.
How to Prepare for CUET PG 2027
Fix your paper codes early: preparation for a domain paper is very different from the General Paper, so decide before you start.
Cover your undergraduate core: domain papers draw on the main subjects of a three-year degree, so revise those textbooks unit by unit.
Practise under real conditions: 75 questions in 90 minutes with negative marking needs timed practice, not only reading.
Keep an error log: note every wrong or guessed answer with the reason and revise it weekly.
For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt CUET PG online tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to plan your revision. Testkart also lists CUET PG study notes from educators that you can use for quick revision alongside CUET PG mock tests.
CUET PG Cut-off Reference
CUET PG has no single cut-off. Each university sets minimum scores by programme, college and category, and these change every round of admission. For example, DU PG 2025 Round 1 minimum scores for MA English ranged from about 172 to 261 out of 300 across colleges in the unreserved category. Treat past figures as a benchmark only. See the CUET PG cut-off page for more programme-wise reference ranges.
Official updates are posted on the CUET PG official website, and the full rules are in the CUET PG information bulletin.
