DNB CET Cut Off: Rank, Merit and How to Set Your Target

Most candidates searching for the DNB CET cut off want a single number to aim for. For this test, officially the DNB Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test (DNB-PDCET) from NBEMS, that number does not exist in the usual sense. The 2022 official bulletin describes it as a ranking exam with no minimum qualifying percentile, so what matters is your rank within your specialty. This page explains what is and is not published, and how to set a sensible target.

Because no official cut-off table was found, this page does not list any score figures. Numbers quoted on other sites are usually user estimates and should be treated as unverified. Official results and scorecards are issued through the NBEMS website: Official NBEMS website: https://natboard.edu.in/

How Merit and Selection Work

Your score is converted into a rank within your own specialty. NBEMS then runs merit-cum-choice counselling, in which candidates register, pay the counselling fee, choose hospitals and receive allotments by rank and availability. For ties, the 2022 bulletin prefers more correct answers, then fewer wrong answers, then the older candidate.

The effective cut-off is therefore the rank of the last candidate who received a seat in a given course and hospital. It is different for each specialty, and a metro teaching hospital will usually close at a better rank than a smaller one.

What Affects Your Position

  • Paper difficulty: A harder paper lowers scores for everyone, so rank matters more than raw marks.

  • Seats in your specialty: Some specialties have more seats and more applicants than others.

  • Hospital choice: Preferred cities and well-known hospitals fill first.

  • Reservation: Category rules apply during counselling as per the bulletin.

How to Set Your Target

Since there is no pass mark to chase, build a target from your own practice data.

  1. Aim for accuracy first: With -1 for each wrong answer, a score of 90 correct and 15 wrong gives 345 out of 480. Improving accuracy raises your score as much as attempting more.

  2. Track your mock trend: Look at the average of your last five full-length mocks, not your best one.

  3. Keep a margin: Treat last year's rank data, once you can find it from counselling, as a benchmark only, and aim to finish clearly ahead of it.
