Institute of Banking Personnel Selection RRB Officer Scale 2
IBPS RRB Officer Scale 2 is a recruitment exam conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection for officer-cadre recruitment, relevant to candidates preparing for public and private sector banking careers.
IBPS RRB Officer Scale 2 is the middle-management recruitment for Regional Rural Banks, conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) under its Common Recruitment Process for RRBs (CRP RRBs). Selected candidates join a participating RRB as Manager, either as a General Banking Officer or in a Specialist stream such as IT, Chartered Accountant, Law, Treasury, Marketing or Agriculture. Unlike Officer Scale I, this is a post for people who already have work experience, and selection is a single online examination followed by an interview.
The current cycle is CRP RRBs XV, advertised on 31 August 2026 with the single online exam for Officer Scale II and III scheduled for 20 December 2026. This page brings together the dates, vacancies, eligibility, exam pattern, syllabus outline, selection process, pay and a preparation plan, with cycle-specific figures labelled so the evergreen sections stay useful after this cycle closes.

CRP RRBs XV notification: what matters for Scale II
IBPS released the CRP RRBs XV advertisement on 31 August 2026, covering Officer Scale I, II and III and Office Assistant (Multipurpose) together. Online registration opened on 1 September 2026 and was first set to close on 21 September, then extended to 27 September 2026 through a corrigendum. A two-day application correction window followed on 7 and 8 October 2026.
For Scale II specifically, three points stand out. First, there is no preliminary exam: you sit one online examination and go straight to the interview stage if shortlisted. Second, the vacancy count was revised upwards in late September 2026, mainly in the Chartered Accountant, Law and Treasury streams. Third, you may apply for only one officer post across Scale I, II and III in a cycle, so the choice between a Scale I application and a Scale II application has to be made at registration.

Officer Scale II vacancies
The advertisement listed 1,047 Scale II vacancies at launch. A revision published in late September 2026 took the total to about 1,059 and lifted the overall CRP RRBs XV count from 13,706 to 13,757. The post-wise figures below reflect the revised numbers reported from the official vacancy document.

Chartered Accountant | 82 |
Law Officer | 56 |

These figures are indicative. IBPS states that final allotment depends on the vacancies the participating RRBs actually report, and the state-wise split for each post is published only in the official advertisement and its corrigenda.
Eligibility in brief
Scale II eligibility has three parts: a post-specific qualification, post-qualification experience, and an age window. All three are checked as on the dates stated in the advertisement, not on the exam date. The IBPS RRB Officer
goes through each post and the documents you will need at the interview.
Qualification and experience
Post | Qualification (minimum 50 percent aggregate unless stated) | Experience |
|---|---|---|
General Banking Officer | Bachelor's degree in any discipline; preference for banking, finance, marketing, agriculture, IT, law, economics or accountancy | Two years as an officer in a bank or financial institution |
IT Officer | Degree in Electronics, Communication, Computer Science or Information Technology | One year in the relevant field |
Chartered Accountant | Certified Associate (CA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India | One year as a Chartered Accountant |

Agricultural Officer | Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairy, Animal Husbandry, Forestry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering or Pisciculture | Two years in the relevant field |
Candidates also need to be proficient in the local language of the state they apply for; the advertisement lists the accepted language for each state. Nationality rules follow the standard Government of India conditions for bank recruitment.
Age limit
For CRP RRBs XV, a Scale II candidate must be above 21 years and below 32 years as on 1 September 2026. That means a date of birth between 2 September 1994 and 1 September 2005, both dates inclusive, before relaxation.
Category | Upper age relaxation |
|---|---|
Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe | 5 years |
Other Backward Classes (non-creamy layer) | 3 years |
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities | 10 years |
Persons affected by the 1984 riots | 5 years |
The advertisement also provides relaxation for ex-servicemen commissioned officers under stated conditions. Relaxations are cumulative only where the advertisement says so, and the category certificate has to be in the prescribed format at the time of the interview.
Application fee and how to apply
Category | Fee (inclusive of GST) |
|---|---|
SC, ST, PwBD | Rs. 175 |
All other candidates | Rs. 850 |
The fee is paid online and is not refunded. Changes made in the correction window attract a separate charge of Rs. 200. The application itself runs through the IBPS online registration portal linked from the CRP RRBs XV section of the official website.
Register: Enter your basic details to generate a provisional registration number and password, which IBPS also sends by email and SMS.
Upload documents: Photograph, signature, left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration in the sizes specified in the advertisement.
Fill the form: Choose the state and the Scale II post, enter qualification and experience details exactly as your certificates show them, and pick an exam medium for the language section.
Pay and submit: Pay the fee online, verify the preview carefully and download the final form; there is no later chance to change the post or state.
The most common reasons for rejection at the document verification stage are experience letters that do not clearly state the designation as an officer, percentage conversion that does not follow the university's own rule, and category certificates in the wrong format.
Exam pattern
The single online examination has two formats. General Banking Officer candidates answer five sections. Specialist Officer candidates answer the same five plus a Professional Knowledge section in their own stream, with the marks redistributed.
General Banking Officer
Test | Questions | Marks | Medium |
|---|---|---|---|
Reasoning | 40 | 50 | English and Hindi |
Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation | 40 | 50 | English and Hindi |
Financial Awareness | 40 | 40 | English and Hindi |
English Language or Hindi Language | 40 | 40 | English or Hindi |
Computer Knowledge | 40 | 20 | English and Hindi |
Total | 200 | 200 | 2 hours composite |
Specialist Officers (IT, CA, Law, Treasury, Marketing, Agriculture)
Test | Questions | Marks | Medium |
|---|---|---|---|
Professional Knowledge | 40 | 40 | English and Hindi |
Reasoning | 40 | 40 | English and Hindi |
Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation | 40 | 40 | English and Hindi |
Financial Awareness | 40 | 40 | English and Hindi |
English Language or Hindi Language | 40 | 20 | English or Hindi |
Computer Knowledge | 40 | 20 | English and Hindi |
Total | 240 | 200 | 2 hours 30 minutes composite |
Every wrong answer costs one-fourth of the marks allotted to that question; unanswered questions carry no penalty. The advertisement gives the composite time for each format and says IBPS may fix a separate duration for each test, which it communicates in the information handout before the exam. In recent cycles the handout has allotted 30 minutes each to Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and the language test, and 15 minutes each to Financial Awareness and Computer Knowledge, with 30 minutes for Professional Knowledge.
What this means for you:
Marks per question differ: A GBO Reasoning or Quantitative question is worth 1.25 marks, a Financial Awareness or language question 1 mark, and a Computer Knowledge question only 0.5 marks. Spend time where the marks are.
Specialists carry 240 questions: With 150 minutes, that is under 40 seconds a question on average, so Professional Knowledge and Financial Awareness must be answered from memory, not worked out.
Guessing is expensive on high-value questions: A wrong 1.25-mark answer loses 0.31 marks. Leave Quantitative questions you cannot finish.
Older pages may still show the Scale I preliminary and mains structure or a three-hour paper for Scale II, so follow the CRP RRBs XV advertisement. The IBPS RRB Officer Scale 2 exam pattern page has the full breakdown and a worked merit example.
Syllabus summary
IBPS names the tests in its advertisement but does not publish a topic-wise syllabus. The outline below is built from the test names and the areas that have appeared in recent Scale II papers; treat it as a working checklist. The detailed IBPS RRB Officer Scale 2 syllabus expands each row, including stream-wise Professional Knowledge.

Selection process
Single online examination: Candidates must score at or above the cut-off in each test and overall. IBPS shortlists roughly three times the vacancies for the interview, subject to availability.
Common interview: Coordinated by the Nodal RRBs in each state with help from NABARD and IBPS. The interview carries 100 marks, and the minimum qualifying score is 40 percent (35 percent for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates).
Final merit: Online exam marks are converted to a base of 100 and combined with the interview on an 80:20 weightage. The combined score out of 100 decides provisional allotment to an RRB in your chosen state.
Document and medical checks: The allotted bank verifies qualification, experience, category and language proficiency before joining.
Salary and career growth
Officer Scale II joins as Manager in Junior Management Grade Scale II. The pay scale for RRBs follows the public sector bank structure and currently reads Rs. 48,170 to Rs. 69,810 basic, with annual increments of Rs. 1,740 for the first step and Rs. 1,990 thereafter.
Component | Details |
|---|---|
Basic pay (official scale) | Rs. 48,170 to Rs. 69,810 |
Dearness allowance, HRA, special allowance | As per the RRB's wage settlement; dearness allowance is revised quarterly |
Approximate gross (estimated) | Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 77,000 per month |
Approximate in-hand (estimated) | Rs. 65,000 to Rs. 67,000 per month |
The gross and in-hand estimates are not official figures, and they vary by RRB, posting location and deductions such as the New Pension System contribution. Promotion runs from Scale II to Scale III (Senior Manager) and onwards through internal channels based on performance and seniority.
How to prepare for the single exam
Most Scale II candidates are working professionals, so the plan below assumes about two to three focused hours on weekdays and longer sessions at weekends over roughly 12 weeks.
A phased plan
Weeks 1 to 4, concepts: Rebuild speed in Reasoning puzzles and Data Interpretation, and start a daily 30-minute Financial Awareness routine covering RBI, NABARD, RRB regulation and the budget. Specialists should map their Professional Knowledge subject against their degree syllabus in this phase.
Weeks 5 to 8, sectional practice: Take timed 15-minute sets in Financial Awareness and Computer Knowledge and 30-minute sets in Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and the language test, so the recent-cycle timings become routine.
Weeks 9 to 12, full-length mocks: Attempt a full mock every three or four days in the exact format for your post, analyse it the same day and maintain an error log. Finish with a current affairs revision of the last six months.
Mock tests and official practice material
At the time of writing, IBPS has not published an official mock test or practice link for the CRP RRBs Officer Scale II examination; the information handout released before the exam explains the test interface. Check the CRP RRBs XV section of the official IBPS website for any practice link added before the exam: https://www.ibps.in.
For timed practice in the current GBO or Specialist format, you can attempt IBPS RRB Officer Scale 2 mock tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to see whether your time is going to the 1.25-mark questions or the 0.5-mark ones. Testkart study notes on Financial Awareness and Computer Knowledge also suit the memory-based sections, where revision frequency matters more than fresh reading.
Cut-off reference
IBPS publishes Scale II cut-offs as combined final scores out of 100 (online exam converted to 80 plus interview out of 20), not as raw exam marks out of 200. The figures below are the final cut-offs for General Banking Officer from the previous two cycles, as reported from the IBPS scorecards.
Category | GBO final cut-off, CRP RRBs XIV (2025-26), out of 100 | GBO final cut-off, CRP RRBs XIII (2024-25), out of 100 |
|---|---|---|
Unreserved | 53.65 | 49.58 |
OBC | 49.50 | 45.12 |
EWS | 31.30 | 35.85 |
SC | 42.10 | 38.92 |
ST | 43.75 | 39.40 |
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat these figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass. Specialist post cut-offs and the trend across cycles are on the IBPS RRB Officer Scale 2 cut off page.
When you are ready to test yourself, Testkart's IBPS RRB Officer Scale 2 test series lets you practise the GBO and Specialist formats separately and compare each attempt against your own earlier scores.
