Indian Airforce Agniveer Eligibility 2026-27: Age, Education and Physical Standards
Indian Airforce Agniveer eligibility rests on four things: your date of birth, your educational qualification, your marital status and your physical and medical fitness. The rules differ slightly for the science group and the Other Than Science (non-science) group, so check the group you plan to apply for before you fill the form.
This page covers the rules for Agniveervayu Intake 02/2027, whose registration ran from 6 July to 26 July 2026. Rules are summarised from the official advertisement and published notification summaries. Figures we could not confirm on an official page are marked tentative, so verify them in the notification before you apply to a future intake.

Eligibility at a glance
Particular | Details |

Date of birth | 1 July 2005 to 1 January 2010, both dates inclusive |
Minimum marks | 50 percent aggregate and 50 percent in English |

Educational qualification
Both groups need at least 50 percent aggregate marks and at least 50 percent marks in English. The qualification must come from a recognised Central, State or Union Territory board or university.
Science group
You can qualify through any one of these routes:
10+2 (Intermediate): Passed with Mathematics, Physics and English from a recognised board.
Engineering diploma: A three-year diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation or Information Technology from a recognised polytechnic, with 50 percent aggregate and 50 percent in English (in the diploma or at 10+2 level, as the notification specifies).
Vocational course: A two-year vocational course that includes Physics and Mathematics, with the same minimum marks.
Other Than Science group
The Other Than Science group accepts 10+2 in any stream, such as arts or commerce, or a two-year vocational course, with 50 percent aggregate and 50 percent in English.
Where the two groups differ
Point | Science group | Other Than Science group |
|---|---|---|
Subjects at 10+2 | Mathematics, Physics and English compulsory | Any stream |
Diploma route | Three-year engineering diploma accepted | Not listed |
Phase I papers | English, Physics, Mathematics | English, RAGA |
A candidate who qualifies for the science group can also appear for the non-science paper, and can choose to sit both in one session while filling the form.
Age limit
Eligibility is set by a date-of-birth window, not by age on a single date. For Intake 02/2027 you must have been born between 1 July 2005 and 1 January 2010, both dates inclusive. Some summaries mention a maximum age of 22 years at enrolment; confirm this in the official notification, as it is not stated in the short advertisement.
We did not find any category-wise age relaxation in the sources we checked, so do not assume one. If you are close to the edge of the window, check your exact date of birth against the notification before paying the fee.
Nationality and marital status
Nationality: Only Indian citizens can apply.
Marital status: Only unmarried male and female candidates can apply.
Gender: Both men and women are eligible.
Physical standards
The standards below are compiled from published summaries of the notification and are tentative until you check the official document.
Test | Male | Female |
|---|---|---|
Height | 152 cm | 152 cm (147 cm for North East and hilly regions, tentative) |
Chest | 77 cm with 5 cm expansion | Well proportioned with 5 cm expansion |
1.6 km run | Within 7 minutes | Within 8 minutes |
Push-ups | 10 in 1 minute | Not listed |
Sit-ups | 10 in 1 minute | 10 in 1 minute 30 seconds |
Squats | 20 in 1 minute | 15 in 1 minute |
The run is the hardest test to fix at the last minute. Start with a steady jog three to four days a week and build speed over several weeks.
Medical standards
Medical standards are tested in Phase III. Summaries report distant vision of 6/12 in each eye, correctable to 6/6, and say that LASIK or PRK surgery is not permitted. Tattoos are generally not allowed, with limited exceptions. Treat these as tentative and read the medical section of the notification before you decide on any procedure.
Who is not eligible
Married candidates: They cannot apply under this scheme.
Born outside the window: A date of birth even one day outside the stated range makes you ineligible.
Below the minimum marks: Less than 50 percent aggregate or less than 50 percent in English at 10+2 level.
Science group without the subjects: 10+2 without Physics, Mathematics or English cannot qualify for the science group, though you may be eligible for the non-science group.
Not meeting physical or medical standards: Fitness is tested in Phase II and Phase III.
Fee and documents
The registration and examination fee for Intake 02/2027 was Rs. 550 plus GST, and it is non-refundable. You will upload a photograph, signature, thumb impression and educational documents in the format given on the application page. The notification summaries we checked also mention a separate Airmen Group Y Medical Assistant entry with its own education rules; these are tentative, so read the notification if you are interested. For dates, pay and the full selection process.
