Indian Navy SSR Eligibility 2026: Age, Education and Conditions

Indian Navy SSR eligibility for the current Agniveer (SSR) cycle needs Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics at a minimum of 50% aggregate, a date of birth inside the batch window, Indian citizenship and unmarried status. The cycle covers the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches, and the recruitment is run by the Indian Navy's Directorate of Manpower Planning and Recruitment.

This page explains each condition in plain terms, shows the date-of-birth windows, and lists the common reasons candidates are rejected. The rules below come from the Navy's notification for this cycle and from the matching notice for the MR entry where noted. The application window for this cycle has closed, so use this page to check where you stand and to plan for the next notification. Always confirm the final wording on joinindiannavy.gov.in.

Educational qualification

The basic requirement is Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board with Mathematics and Physics and at least 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates who were appearing in the 2025-26 Class 12 examination could apply, but they must produce original marksheets later and meet the minimum aggregate and subject requirements.

Diploma and vocational routes

Reports of the notification list two other routes with 50% aggregate: a three-year engineering diploma in branches such as Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation or Information Technology, and a two-year vocational course with Physics and Mathematics. One source also says Class 12 candidates need Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science in addition to Mathematics and Physics. This is not confirmed in the text we could verify, so read the exact wording in the notification before deciding.

Percentage and results

  • Aggregate: The 50% requirement applies to the aggregate. Check how your board reports marks, since the notification does not give a conversion rule in the text we could verify.

  • Result deadline: If your result was pending, the Navy needed original marksheets at later stages. Mismatches between the application and original documents lead to cancellation.

A separate SSR (Medical) post has been reported with Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Class 12 and only for unmarried male candidates. It is a different entry, so check its notice separately.

Age limit

The Navy fixes a date-of-birth window for each batch instead of an age on a single date. Both end dates are inclusive.

Batch

Earliest date of birth

Latest date of birth

01/2027

1 December 2004

31 May 2009

02/2027

1 May 2005

31 October 2009

For INET 2026, applicants across both batches were born between 1 December 2004 and 31 October 2009. That works out to roughly 17.5 to 21 years at enrolment, as reported by some sources.

Age relaxation: The notification text we could verify gives no category-wise age relaxation. Do not assume the relaxations of other government exams apply.

Nationality, marital status and other conditions

  • Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.

  • Marital status: Candidates must be unmarried at enrolment and certify this in writing. Marriage during the four-year engagement leads to dismissal.

  • Gender: Both unmarried men and women can apply for Agniveer (SSR).

  • Domicile and police verification: A domicile certificate is needed, and a police verification form from the district Superintendent of Police is required. An adverse or missing report bars enrolment.

  • One application only: Multiple registrations lead to rejection and debarment.

  • Attempts: No attempt limit is stated in the text we could verify. Check the notification.

Physical and medical standards

The notice for the matching MR entry lists the standards below, and the same standards are expected for SSR. Confirm them in the SSR notification.

Standard

Requirement

Height

Minimum 157 cm for men and women, with relaxations as per the Navy website

Vision

Uncorrected 6/12 in each eye, corrected 6/6, and colour perception must pass

Tattoos

Allowed only on the inner forearm and the back of the hand

General

Free from disease or disability that would hinder duties

Pregnancy disqualifies female candidates at the time of medical, and pregnancy during the engagement can lead to dismissal. Candidates found unfit can request one review within five days.

Who is not eligible

  • Married candidates: Marriage at the time of enrolment rules a candidate out.

  • Candidates outside the birth window: Even one day outside the dates for the batch is a disqualification.

  • Below 50% aggregate or missing subjects: Class 12 without Mathematics and Physics does not qualify.

  • Tattoos in barred areas: Tattoos on locations other than the permitted ones bar recruitment.

  • Adverse police report or false documents: Counterfeit documents or wrong details can lead to disqualification at any stage.

  • Duplicate applications: A second registration cancels the application.

Fee and documents

The fee is Rs. 550 plus 18% GST (Rs. 649) for Stage I and is non-refundable. You will need photographs, a signature, Class 10 and 12 marksheets or diploma, identity proof, a domicile certificate and an NCC certificate if you hold one.
