State Government Recruitment

Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission

JSSC is a recruitment exam conducted by Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission, relevant to candidates preparing for state government department recruitment.

The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) is the state body that recruits candidates for Group B and Group C posts in Jharkhand government departments. If you are tracking JSSC recruitment 2026, two combined competitive examinations matter most right now: the Jharkhand Technical Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JTGLCCE-2026) and the Jharkhand Intermediate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JILCCE-2026).

This page is the main JSSC guide on Testkart. It covers the vacancies, dates, eligibility, fees, exam pattern, syllabus, selection stages, pay and a preparation plan for both 2026 cycles, and it links to the detailed pages for each topic. Information is current as on 29 October 2026, and exam dates for both cycles had not been announced in the sources we reviewed.

Latest Update: Which Cycle This Page Covers

This page focuses on the 2026 recruitment cycle. JILCCE-2026 (Advertisement 03/2026) is the most recent major notification, published on 25 June 2026, and JTGLCCE-2026 (Advertisement 01/2026, dated 7 May 2026) is the graduate-level cycle that runs alongside it. Both are at the same stage: applications are closed and the Commission has not yet announced the exam schedule.

Three other developments are worth knowing before you plan your year:

  • JSSC CGL re-exam is pending: Media reports say the Jharkhand government cancelled the JSSC Combined Graduate Level Examination (Advertisement 10/2023) in August 2026, along with other recruitment exams, and ordered a probe. A fresh exam has been discussed but, in the reports we reviewed, no date has been announced.

  • 2026 cycles not reported as affected: The reports about the cancellations do not mention JTGLCCE-2026 or JILCCE-2026. Treat that as unconfirmed and watch the Commission's notices.

  • Other processes continue: The physical efficiency test for the Jharkhand Assistant Jailor exam was reported as rescheduled to 18 to 21 November 2026.

Because the situation is changing, confirm every date on the official JSSC website (https://jssc.jharkhand.gov.in/) before acting on it. Older pages may still show earlier schedules or the original application deadlines.

Eligibility Summary

Eligibility is post-specific, so read the line for your post in the advertisement before you pay the fee. The full breakdown is on the JSSC eligibility criteria page. Here are the essentials.

Educational qualification

  • JTGLCCE-2026: A degree in the subject linked to the post, such as Science for the vector-borne disease posts, Mathematics, Economics or Statistics for statistical posts, Dairy Technology for the Dairy Technical Officer, Fisheries Science for the Fisheries Extension Supervisor, and Honours in Physics or Chemistry for laboratory assistants. The Assistant Entomologist post asks for a post-graduate degree.

  • JILCCE-2026: Intermediate (10+2). Health Supervisor and Multipurpose Health Worker need Science, Junior Regional Investigator needs Mathematics, and the veterinary, insect collector and fisheries posts need Biology.

  • Deadline for the qualification: You must hold the qualification by the last date of online application. Candidates with results pending are generally treated as ineligible.

The minimum age is 21 years for JTGLCCE-2026 and 18 years for JILCCE-2026. Persons with disabilities get an additional 10 years and ex-servicemen get 5 years, and these are not combined. The reference date for age differs between sources, particularly for JILCCE, so check the date printed in your advertisement.

Reservation benefits and fee concessions are reported to apply to recognised residents of Jharkhand only. Other candidates are treated as unreserved. Keep your certificates ready.

  1. Open the official site: Go to https://jssc.jharkhand.gov.in/ and choose the application link for your examination.

  2. Register: Create your profile with a working mobile number and email address.

  3. Fill the form: Select your post, category and qualification details exactly as in your certificates.

  4. Upload documents: Add a recent photograph and signature in the size the portal asks for.

  5. Pay the fee and submit: Pay online, submit the form and save a printout.

Common reasons for rejection are a category claim without a valid certificate, a qualification that was incomplete on the last date, a mismatch between name or date of birth and the certificates, and an unpaid or partly paid fee.

Exam Pattern Summary

Both cycles follow a similar template: a preliminary exam that is held only if the number of applicants is large, and a main exam of three papers. The Commission has stated that the preliminary exam will be held only if applications exceed 50,000. Otherwise candidates go straight to the main exam. The JSSC exam pattern page has the full detail.

Paper III

Technical subject (100), General Studies (20), Mathematics (20), Science (10): 150 questions

General Studies, Jharkhand knowledge, Science, Mathematics, Mental Ability and Computer Knowledge: 120 questions

What this means for you:

  • Merit comes from Papers II and III: Paper I only has to be cleared, so do not spend months on it, but do not ignore it either because a failed Paper I ends your candidature.

  • Jharkhand knowledge carries weight: It has 60 of the 120 prelims questions, so it deserves the largest share of your general-studies time.

  • Guessing has a price: One mark is deducted for each wrong answer against 3 for a correct one, so guess only when you can remove at least one option.

Syllabus Summary

The Commission lists the subjects for each paper in the advertisement and its appendices, and for some JTGLCCE posts the technical syllabus is to be published separately. The topic lists here are built from those subject headings and from the way questions are framed, so use them as a working checklist rather than an official list. The JSSC syllabus page breaks it down topic by topic.

Selection Process

  1. Preliminary exam, if held: A screening test. A limited number of candidates, reported as around 15 times the vacancies for JTGLCCE, are shortlisted for the main exam.

  2. Main exam: Three papers. Paper I is qualifying and the merit list is prepared from the normalised marks of Papers II and III. Minimum qualifying marks apply by category.

  3. Skill test, where applicable: Some JILCCE posts may need a typing or computer skill test, usually qualifying in nature.

  4. Document verification: Original certificates for qualification, category, residence and any claimed concession are checked.

Where the exam runs in several shifts, marks are normalised so that a tougher shift does not hurt anyone. Cut-off details are covered below and on the JSSC cut-off page.

Salary and Career Growth

Cycle and posts

Pay

JTGLCCE: Assistant Entomologist, Assistant Vector Borne Disease Control Officer

Level 7: Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400

JTGLCCE: Inspector, Statistical posts, Dairy Technical Officer, Fisheries Extension Supervisor

Level 6: Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400

JTGLCCE: Auditor, Junior Scientific Assistant, Laboratory Assistants

Level 5: Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300

JILCCE posts

Reported as pay band Rs. 5,200 to Rs. 20,200 with grade pay of Rs. 1,800 to Rs. 2,400 depending on the post (verify in the advertisement)

These are pay scales, not in-hand salary. Allowances, deductions and city of posting change the monthly amount, so this is not an official take-home figure. State government jobs also offer job security, increments and promotion in line with state rules.

How to Prepare for JSSC Exams

A phased plan

  • Weeks 1 to 6, build the base: Finish Jharkhand history, geography and culture first, then the basics of Indian polity and economy. Start 30 minutes of current affairs a day, with monthly notes.

  • Weeks 4 to 10, add the quantitative and reasoning block: Revise matriculation-level mathematics and practise reasoning sets daily. JTGLCCE candidates should begin the technical subject of their post in parallel.

  • Weeks 8 to 12, language papers: Practise Hindi and English comprehension, and revise grammar for your chosen tribal or regional language.

  • Final phase, mocks and revision: Attempt full-length papers on the real pattern, analyse each one the same day, and revise from an error log.

Where mock tests fit in

Because there are three separate papers with different timing, you need to practise each one on its own clock. Timed practice also shows how many questions you can solve without hurting accuracy under negative marking. s.

Cut-Off Reference

No cut-off exists yet for either 2026 cycle because the exams have not been held. The notification sets minimum qualifying marks by category, and the final cut-off is decided after the exam based on difficulty, vacancies and the number of candidates. Cut-offs change every year, so treat last year's figures as a benchmark only and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

A worked example of what the qualifying percentages mean in marks is on the JSSC cut-off page. For regular practice against a target score, take timed papers in the real pattern and track your marks across attempts.
