KVS TGT Eligibility 2026: Qualification, Age Limit and CTET

KVS TGT eligibility rests on four checks: your degree and B.Ed., your subject combination, a valid CTET Paper II certificate, and your age on the closing date. This page explains each rule as set in Recruitment Notification 01/2025, which CBSE issued on behalf of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), including the changes made by its corrigenda.

Eligibility is tested on the closing date of the online application, so a certificate or degree you receive later does not count. The last cycle closed on 11 December 2025 after an extension from 4 December 2025. Rules can change in the next notification, so use this page as a guide and confirm against the new notice when it appears.

  1. Four-year integrated degree: From an NCTE recognised university, with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject(s) and in aggregate, including the B.Ed. component.

  2. Bachelor's plus B.Ed.: A bachelor's or Honours degree with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject, the subject combination and the aggregate, plus a B.Ed. from an NCTE recognised institution with at least 50% marks. A three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. with 50% marks, or a one-year B.Ed. (Special Education) from the Rehabilitation Council of India with 50% marks, is also accepted in place of the B.Ed.

  3. Post-graduation route: A post-graduate degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade, provided you studied the required subjects at graduation level, plus a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. with at least 50% marks.

The notification treats the 50% requirement as a minimum in both the subject and the aggregate, so check both figures on your mark sheets. It does not describe a conversion from CGPA in the sections we read, so confirm your university's conversion rule before you apply.

Candidates who studied under the Choice Based Credit System with the same combinations are also eligible. B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics or Chemistry candidates are not eligible for TGT Mathematics.

CTET requirement

For TGT posts, the notification requires a valid CTET Paper II certificate issued on or before the closing date of the online application. The rule is stated in a general note on the posts of PRT and TGT, with exceptions for Music, Art Education, Work Experience, Librarian and Physical Education. Check the line for your subject in the notification, because a CTET result declared after the closing date does not count.

Age limit and relaxation

The minimum age is 18 years and the upper age limit for TGT is 35 years. Age and all other criteria are reckoned on the closing date of the online application. The notification gave this as 4 December 2025, and CBSE later extended the last date to 11 December 2025. The notices we read do not restate which date applies for age after the extension, so confirm this in the notification if your date of birth is close to the limit.
