State Government Recruitment

Madhya Pradesh Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal Group 5

MP Vyapam Group 5 is a recruitment exam conducted by Madhya Pradesh Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal, relevant to candidates preparing for state government department recruitment.

MP Vyapam Group 5 is the combined recruitment test for Staff Nurse, paramedical and other equivalent Grade III posts in Madhya Pradesh government departments, medical colleges and the AYUSH directorate. It is conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), the body that was earlier called the Professional Examination Board or MP Vyapam. Many students still search for it by the old name, so you will see both names used for the same exam.

The latest cycle, the Group-5 Staff Nurse, Paramedical Staff and Other Equivalent Posts Combined Recruitment Test 2026, has finished its written stage and the result is out. This page explains how the exam works: posts and vacancies, eligibility, fee, exam pattern, syllabus, merit rules, pay and a practical preparation plan, all checked against the official rule book.

Latest Update on MPESB Group 5

MPESB released the Group 5 rule book on 12 March 2026 for 291 posts. A revised notice later raised the total to 373 posts and moved the application window to 16 to 30 March 2026. The computer-based test was held in April 2026, and the result was declared on 9 June 2026 on the official website.

In April 2026, MPESB also opened a separate Group 5 recruitment for Nursing Officer and Sister Tutor posts, with its own rule book, dates and vacancy table. If you are a B.Sc Nursing or GNM holder, check both notifications, because the nursing posts are not always part of the main paramedical cycle.

  • Science stream: Most technical posts need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

  • Cut-off date: You must hold the qualification on the date you submit the form. Results that come later do not count.

A portal fee is added on top: Rs. 60 if you apply through an MP Online kiosk, or Rs. 20 if you log in as a registered citizen user. Each correction costs Rs. 20 plus a Rs. 40 portal fee.

Steps to Apply

  1. Open the MPESB portal on MP Online and select the Group 5 application under the ESB section.

  2. Read the rule book, then fill in your personal, category and qualification details. Aadhaar details are compulsory.

  3. Mark your post preferences. You are considered only for the posts you choose, so list every post you are eligible for.

  4. Upload your photo, signature and handwritten declaration, along with qualification, category and other certificates.

  5. Pay the fee online or at a kiosk, then save the application number. You need it for the admit card.

Common reasons for rejection include a photo older than three months, unclear signatures, missing certificates for a chosen post and duplicate applications.

MP Vyapam Group 5 Exam Pattern

The written test is a single online paper in Hindi and English. It has two parts: a short general section that is common to all, and a long technical section based on your trade.

Part

Subjects

Questions

Marks

Part A

General Knowledge, General Hindi, General English, General Mathematics, General Science, General Aptitude

25

25

Part B

Technical questions based on the post's trade

75

75

Total

2 hours

100

100

Each correct answer earns 1 mark, and each wrong answer loses 0.25 marks. In the 2026 cycle, the paper ran in two shifts, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

What This Means for You

  • Your trade decides the result: Three-quarters of the paper comes from your diploma subjects, so strong technical revision matters more than general studies.

  • Guess with care: Four wrong guesses cancel one correct answer. Attempt a question only when you can rule out at least two options.

  • Do not ignore Part A: 25 easy marks can lift you above candidates with the same technical score.

Some older pages still describe the paper without negative marking, so follow the current rule book.

Syllabus Summary

MPESB sets a separate technical paper for each group of posts. In 2026 there were 14 paper codes, from A to N.

Selection Process and Merit Rules

  1. Written test: You must reach the minimum qualifying marks for your category to enter the merit list.

  2. Percentile merit: When the test runs in more than one shift, scores are normalised and the merit list is drawn up on percentile scores, post by post.

  3. Tie-break: Equal percentiles are separated by written-test marks, and then by age.

  4. Recommendation: MPESB sends selected names to the departments as per your post preferences.

  5. Document verification: The recruiting department, not the board, checks certificates and issues the appointment order.

MPESB also prepares a waiting list equal to 15 percent of the posts. It stays valid for one year from the result or until a new result is declared, whichever comes first. There is no re-evaluation or recounting after the result.

Salary and Probation

New appointees serve a probation period. As per state rules quoted in the rule book, they receive a stipend of 70 percent of the minimum of the pay scale in the first year, 80 percent in the second and 90 percent in the third. Full pay in the scale starts once probation is complete.

For example, a Level 7 post with a minimum of Rs. 28,700 gives a stipend of about Rs. 20,090 in the first year. Allowances depend on department rules and posting, so treat any in-hand figure you see online as an estimate.

How to Prepare for MP Vyapam Group 5

A focused plan of 10 to 12 weeks works for most diploma holders, because the technical part builds on what you already studied.

  1. Weeks 1 to 4: Revise your core technical subjects using your diploma or degree notes. Make one-page summaries for each unit.

  2. Weeks 3 to 6: Add 30 to 40 minutes a day for Part A: Madhya Pradesh GK, basic maths, Hindi and English grammar, and everyday science.

  3. Weeks 5 to 9: Take topic-wise tests in your trade and review every wrong answer the same day.

  4. Weeks 9 to 12: Attempt full-length mocks in 2-hour slots and keep an error log of repeated mistakes.

Previous papers show how the board frames technical questions, so solve at least the last two cycles for your paper code. For timed practice in the current pattern.

Cut-off and Qualifying Marks

MPESB sets two kinds of thresholds. The qualifying marks decide who enters the merit list, and the post-wise cut-off decides who is actually selected.

Category

Minimum qualifying marks

Unreserved

50 percent

SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwD

40 percent

The final cut-off for each post is usually well above these minimums and changes with vacancies, applicants and paper difficulty.

If you are preparing for the next cycle, start with your trade subjects now and build mock practice in steadily, so you are ready when the new rule book is released.
