State Government Recruitment

MP Vyapam Group 5 Eligibility 2026: Age and Qualification

MP Vyapam Group 5 eligibility is decided post by post. The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) runs one combined test for Staff Nurse, Pharmacist, technician, compounder and other paramedical posts, but each post carries the qualification set by the department that requested it. A candidate who fits the Lab Attendant post may not fit the Lab Technician post in the same cycle.

This guide explains every condition in the 2026 rule book: qualification for each post, council and employment exchange registration, age limit and relaxations, domicile rules and the common reasons applications are rejected. Use it as a checklist before you fill in the form for the next cycle, and confirm any change in the new rule book.

Educational Qualification

The rule book sets one base rule for the whole group: candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) examination along with the related diploma, or hold a higher qualification, or meet the minimum qualification fixed by the department in Chapter 2 of the rule book. In practice, Chapter 2 is what decides your eligibility, because each department lists its own requirement.

Key Rules on Qualification

  • Hold it on the application date: The qualification must be complete on the date you submit the form. If your diploma result comes after that date, you are not eligible for that cycle.

  • Recognised institution only: Diplomas and degrees must come from a recognised board, council or institution.

  • One certificate per post chosen: If you select more than one post, you must upload proof of qualification for every post you choose.

  • No extra weightage: Departments cannot ask for, or give preference to, qualifications beyond the minimum listed for the post.

  • Provisional eligibility: MPESB does not verify certificates. Eligibility at the exam stage is provisional, and the recruiting department checks everything before appointment.

Points Students Often Miss

  • Same post, different rules: Dresser posts in different departments asked for slightly different qualifications in 2026. Read the line under the exact department and post code you select.

  • Experience is sometimes required: The Drug Compounder post needed three years of experience and the Mining Corporation Compounder post needed two. Most other posts need none.

  • Urdu for Unani posts: The Unani Compounder post requires Urdu as one of your 10+2 subjects.

  • B.Sc Nursing holders: MPESB also runs a separate Group 5 recruitment for Nursing Officer and Sister Tutor posts. Check that rule book too, since its qualification table differs.

Registration Requirements

Two kinds of registration matter for MP Vyapam Group 5, and both must be live, not expired.

  • Professional council registration: Nursing posts need registration with a recognised Nursing Council. Pharmacist posts need registration with the MP Pharmacy Council. Most technician, radiography, optometry and AYUSH compounder posts need live registration with the Madhya Pradesh Paramedical Council.

  • Employment exchange registration: Every candidate must hold a live registration with an employment office in Madhya Pradesh. This applies to all posts and all categories, including candidates from other states.

  • Aadhaar: Aadhaar details are compulsory in the form, and Aadhaar-based biometric verification is done at the exam centre. Keep your Aadhaar biometrics unlocked on exam day.

Renew any lapsed registration before you apply. A registration that has expired on the application date can lead to rejection at document verification, even if you clear the test.

Age Limit and Age Relaxation

Age is counted as on 1 January of the recruitment year, which was 1 January 2026 for the latest cycle. The minimum age is 18 years and the general upper limit is 40 years.

Category

Upper age limit

Unreserved (MP and other states)

40 years

MP domicile SC, ST and OBC

45 years

Women (unreserved and reserved)

45 years

Employees of MP government departments, corporations, boards, autonomous bodies and Home Guards

45 years

Persons with disabilities

45 years

EWS

40 years (no relaxation)

Contract employees

Relaxation equal to years of contract service, up to 55 years

Priority categories listed in the rule book

55 years

Other Age Relaxations

  • Ex-servicemen: They may deduct their period of service from their actual age, provided the result is not more than three years above the upper limit.

  • Retrenched government employees: They may deduct up to seven years of temporary government service, again within three years above the upper limit.

  • Inter-caste marriage award couples and Vikram Award sportspersons: Five years of extra relaxation, subject to the overall cap.

  • Priority categories: Groups such as ex-servicemen, NCC "C" certificate holders and certain surplus government employees get an upper age of 55 and 5 percent bonus marks on their test score.

The most important rule is the overall cap. Even after combining every relaxation, the upper age cannot go above 45 years for any category, except for contract employees and the priority categories. If you qualify for more than one relaxation, you get the single most beneficial one, not the total of all.

Worked Example

For the 2026 cycle, an unreserved candidate had to be at least 18 and not more than 40 years old on 1 January 2026. In simple terms, that means a date of birth from 2 January 1985 to 1 January 2008. For a candidate with a 45-year limit, the earliest date of birth moved to 2 January 1980. Check the exact dates in your cycle's rule book, because the reference date changes every year.

MPESB accepts only the date of birth shown on your Class 10, Class 12 or equivalent certificate, and it cannot be changed once entered in the form.

Nationality, Domicile and Reservation

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a citizen of Nepal. A Nepali citizen needs an eligibility certificate under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Recruitment Rules, 1961, and can be appointed only once the state issues it.

Domicile

  • Non-MP candidates: Candidates who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh can apply only against unreserved (open) posts. They get no reservation and no age relaxation.

  • Reserved candidates from other states: SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwD candidates from other states are treated as unreserved for reservation, fee and age.

  • OBC creamy layer: OBC candidates in the creamy layer do not get OBC reservation, age relaxation or fee concession.

Reservation

Category

Reservation (2026 rule book)

Scheduled Tribe

20 percent

Scheduled Caste

16 percent

Other Backward Classes

27 percent (13 percent kept provisional, subject to a court decision)

EWS

10 percent

Women (horizontal)

35 percent within each category

Persons with disabilities (horizontal)

6 percent, on posts identified for them

Ex-servicemen (horizontal)

10 percent for Grade III posts

Reserved category certificates must be issued by a competent authority in Madhya Pradesh. Caste certificates must come from the Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) of an MP district.

Other Conditions for Appointment

These conditions are checked by the department before the appointment order, so a candidate who clears the test can still be turned away.

  • Third child rule: A candidate who had a third child after 26 January 2001 is not eligible for appointment under the MP Civil Services rules.

  • Marriage rule: A candidate who has more than one living spouse is not eligible, unless the government grants an exemption.

  • Medical fitness: Candidates must be mentally and physically fit for the duties of the post and may have to pass a medical examination.

  • Joining on time: A selected candidate who does not join by the date in the appointment order loses the candidature.

Who Is Not Eligible

  • Late qualifiers: Candidates who complete their diploma or degree after the application date.

  • Wrong stream: Candidates without Physics, Chemistry and Biology at 10+2 where the post requires them.

  • Expired registration: Candidates without live council or MP employment exchange registration.

  • Over-age candidates: Anyone above the limit after the single applicable relaxation, including EWS candidates above 40.

  • Non-MP candidates on reserved posts: Applications from other states against reserved posts.

  • Duplicate applicants: Anyone who submits more than one application for the same test.
