MPPSC State Service Mock Tests
Practise exam-style MPPSC papers, learn how to attempt them and turn every score into a revision plan.
A mock test is the closest you can get to the real MPPSC State Service preliminary exam without sitting in the hall. It shows how your accuracy holds up over two hours, which topics cost you marks and whether your General Studies attempt strategy actually works. This page explains what to practise, how to take each test and how to learn from the result.
Why Mock Tests Matter for MPPSC
The preliminary exam covers a wide syllabus, including strong Madhya Pradesh content, so reading alone rarely shows where you are weak. Timed practice fixes that in three ways.
Accuracy under time pressure: You learn how many questions you can answer with confidence rather than guesswork.
Weak-area detection: Repeated errors in one subject point to the chapters worth revising first.
Cut off awareness: You can compare your score with previous category-wise cut offs, listed on
Exam Format to Practise
Your practice should copy the real structure. Check the marking scheme and negative-marking rule in the latest advertisement before you set a strategy, because third-party sources disagree on them.
Stage | Paper | Duration | Nature |
|---|---|---|---|
Prelims | Paper I: General Studies | 2 hours | Objective, decides the screening result |
Prelims | Paper II: General Aptitude Test (CSAT) | 2 hours | Objective, qualifying |
Mains | Six descriptive papers | 3 hours each for the general studies and Hindi papers | Written, one paper per day |
Types of Mock Tests and When to Use Them
Test type | Best used when | What to focus on |
|---|---|---|
Topic-wise test | You finish a subject | Concept clarity and recall |
Sectional test | Revising a full subject block | Speed within one area |
Full-length prelims test | Final three to four months | Stamina, question selection, accuracy |
Previous year paper | Throughout | Question style and Madhya Pradesh weightage |
Mains answer practice | After the basics are done | Structure, word limit, Hindi writing |
How to Attempt a Mock Test
Sit once, without breaks: Use the full two hours in one sitting, away from notes and phones.
Mark doubtful questions: Attempt the sure answers first, then return to the marked ones.
Do not guess blindly: Guess only when you can remove at least one option, and check the negative-marking rule first.
Take the aptitude paper seriously: It is qualifying, but failing it still ends your attempt.
How to Analyse Your Score
The score matters less than what you do after it. Spend at least as long on review as on the test itself.
Sort every error: Label each as a concept gap, a careless slip or a time problem.
Keep an error log: Write the correct fact beside the mistake and revise the log weekly.
Track trends: Look at three tests together, since one paper can mislead you.
