NIELIT CCC Eligibility 2026: Qualification, Age Limit and Documents
NIELIT CCC eligibility is very open: there is no minimum educational qualification and no age limit. NIELIT, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, conducts the Course on Computer Concepts (CCC) exam for anyone who wants a basic IT literacy certificate. A school student, a graduate, a homemaker, a retired person or a serving employee can all apply, as long as they fill the online form correctly.
Because almost anyone can apply, the real eligibility checks are procedural: which application route you use, whether your photograph and details meet NIELIT's rules, and whether you apply within the window for one of the quarterly exam cycles. Most CCC applications that fail are rejected for these reasons, not for qualification. This page covers who can apply, the three application modes, document and image rules, ID requirements and the mistakes that lead to cancellation.

Educational Qualification
NIELIT does not ask for any educational qualification for CCC. You do not need to have passed Class 10, Class 12 or any degree. The application form has an education section, but it records your qualification; it does not screen you out.
Students: School and college students can apply while still studying.
Graduates and job seekers: Many apply because a government recruitment rule asks for CCC.
Employees: Serving government staff often take CCC for confirmation or promotion.
Anyone else: Homemakers, small business owners and senior citizens can apply to get a recognised computer certificate.
Higher NIELIT Digital Literacy Courses are different. CCC+ asks for Class 10, and ECC asks for Class 12. Make sure you select CCC, not another course, on the form.
Age Limit
There is no minimum or maximum age for CCC. NIELIT's guidelines describe the course as open to any person, and the exam has no age reference date.
Applicants under 18 should note one practical point: the form needs a personal email ID and mobile number, and the exam centre asks for an original photo ID. A photo student ID from a recognised school is accepted, so younger students can usually meet this. Do not use a parent's or institute's email or mobile number, since all alerts and verification codes go there.
Three Ways to Apply for CCC
NIELIT allows three routes. All three lead to the same exam and the same certificate.
Mode | How it works | Suits |
|---|---|---|
Through a NIELIT-approved institute | You train at an institute that NIELIT has approved for CCC. The institute submits or sponsors your exam form and usually handles the fee | Students who want classroom teaching and lab practice |
Through a government-recognised school or college | Your school or college holds a NIELIT Unique Identity number for CCC and sponsors your form | Students whose own institution runs CCC |
Direct applicant | You fill the online form yourself and pay the fee. No accredited course or sponsorship is needed | Students who prepare on their own or already know computers |
If you go through an institute, confirm that it is approved by NIELIT and ask for your application number. Whichever route you take, you remain responsible for the details in the form.
Nationality and Language
Nationality: NIELIT does not set a nationality condition for CCC in its guidelines. The exam centres are in India, so you must be able to appear at one.
Language: Older NIELIT course pages mention knowledge of English as the course requirement. The application form itself is bilingual in English and Hindi. Check the medium options shown on the form for your cycle.
Documents and Details Needed for the Form
No physical documents are sent to NIELIT. Keep these ready before you open the form:
Personal email ID and mobile number: Your own, not an institute's. They are used for validation, alerts and certificate verification.
Scanned photograph: Recent colour photo on a white background.
Scanned signature: Signed in black or blue ink on white paper.
Scanned left thumb impression: In black or blue ink on white paper.
Aadhaar number: Asked for in the identification part of the form.
Two preferred exam centres: Chosen from the list on the form.
Payment method: Online banking, card, NEFT or RTGS, or a CSC centre.
Photograph, Signature and Thumb Impression Rules
NIELIT cancelled several September 2026 applications for incorrect photographs, so follow these specifications exactly.
Image | Size | File size | Format and resolution |
|---|---|---|---|
Photograph | 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm (132 x 170 pixels) | 5 KB to 50 KB | JPEG or JPG, 96 to 300 DPI |
Signature | 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm (170 x 132 pixels) | 5 KB to 20 KB | JPEG or JPG, 96 to 200 DPI |
Left thumb impression | 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm (170 x 132 pixels) | 5 KB to 20 KB | JPEG or JPG, 96 to 200 DPI |
Photograph Checklist
Recent: Taken within the last six months.
Professional: NIELIT's guidelines ask for a professionally taken photograph, not a mobile selfie.
Plain background: White background, colour photo.
Face visible: No goggles, and nothing covering any part of the face.
Clear scan: Not blurred, stretched or cropped too tightly.
Signature and thumb impression must not be smudged or blurred. These specifications come from NIELIT's application guidelines; if the form for your cycle shows different limits, follow the form.
Guardian Name Rule
The form asks for parents' names. If you choose to enter a guardian's name instead, NIELIT requires a prescribed affidavit, which must reach the NIELIT regional centre within seven days after the form submission deadline.
If the affidavit is not submitted: The form is not processed, the exam is cancelled and the fee is not refunded.
Recent cancellations: NIELIT published three lists of cancelled September 2026 candidates on this ground, the latest on 26 October 2026.
Certificate impact: If accepted, the guardian's name appears on your certificate.
Use the guardian option only if you genuinely need it, and send the affidavit straight away.
Photo ID for the Exam Centre
Carry your printed admit card and one original photo ID. NIELIT accepts any of these:
Accepted ID | Notes |
|---|---|
Aadhaar card | Most commonly used |
Voter ID card | Original card |
PAN card | Original card |
Passport | Valid passport |
Driving licence | Permanent laminated licence |
Student ID card | With photo, from a recognised school, college, ITI or polytechnic |
Government or PSU employee ID | Photo ID with serial number from a central or state government, PSU or autonomous body |
Bank passbook or credit card | Nationalised bank passbook with attested photo, or bank credit card with laminated photo |
Identity certificate | With photo, from a Gazetted Officer or Tehsildar on letterhead |
If the details on your ID do not match the admit card, you can be denied entry, and your candidature is cancelled without refund.
Application Window and Fee
Since the September 2026 cycle, CCC exams are quarterly. You must submit the form and fee within the window for the cycle you want.
Exam cycle | Form and fee window (indicative) |
|---|---|
December 2026 | 1 August to 31 October 2026 |
March 2027 | 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027 |
June 2027 | 1 February to 30 April 2027 |
September 2027 | 1 May to 31 July 2027 |
These windows follow the quarterly pattern used since the change and can be revised or extended; the September 2026 deadline, for example, was extended to 05 August 2026. Check the official notifications page before you apply.

The fee is Rs. 500 plus GST as applicable (about Rs. 590 at 18 percent), plus payment charges for the mode you use. NIELIT does not accept late fees, and fees are not refunded or carried forward.
Pre-Submission Checklist
Since NIELIT does not accept corrections after you submit, run through this list before you click Final Submit and pay.
Check | What to confirm |
|---|---|
Course selected | Course on Computer Concepts (CCC), not BCC, CCC+ or ECC |
Name | Spelled exactly as on your photo ID, since the certificate will carry it |
Date of birth | Matches your ID and school records |
Parents' or guardian's name | Correct spelling; affidavit ready if you chose a guardian |
Email and mobile | Your own, active and reachable during the cycle |
Images | Photograph, signature and thumb impression within the size limits and clearly visible |
Exam cycle and centres | The cycle you want and two centres you can reach |
Payment | Completed inside the window, with the transaction reference saved |
After submission, save the application number and the SMS or email acknowledgement. If you applied through an institute, ask the institute for the same details and check them yourself on the portal.
Who Is Not Eligible or Gets Rejected
Nobody is excluded by qualification or age, but these situations make an application invalid or lead to cancellation:
More than one form in a cycle: Only the last submitted form is considered. Fees for the others are neither refunded nor transferred.
Appearing twice in one cycle: Candidature is cancelled without refund.
Wrong photograph: A selfie, an old photo, a covered face or a wrong-size image can lead to cancellation.
Guardian name without affidavit: The form is not processed.
Fee not paid in time: A form without a fee payment inside the window is not accepted.
ID mismatch on exam day: Entry is denied and the candidature cancelled.
Errors in name or date of birth: Corrections are not accepted after submission, and the certificate is issued with the details you entered.
Eligibility Rules for Jobs That Ask for CCC
CCC eligibility and job eligibility are two different questions. CCC itself is open to everyone; the job notification decides whether and when you need the certificate.
Deadline: Some recruitments need the certificate by the last date of application; others accept it at document verification or within a period after appointment.
Grade: Most notifications ask only for a pass. A few may name a minimum grade.
Equivalents: Many notifications accept higher NIELIT courses such as O Level, or other named certificates, in place of CCC.
