OSSC CGL Cut-off 2026: Prelims and Mains Category-wise Marks
The OSSC CGL cut-off is set separately for each stage of the Combined Graduate Level Recruitment Examination. The prelims cut-off decides who moves to the mains, and the mains-based last selection marks decide who is called for certificate verification. Both are fixed category-wise by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission.
The figures below are indicative. They come from result summaries of the CGLRE-2025 cycle and of the CGL prelims result declared in November 2024, not from a cut-off PDF we could open on the official site. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants, so treat them as a benchmark and aim for a clear margin above them.

OSSC CGL Mains Cut-off for Certificate Verification

|---|---|---|
UR | 156 | 150.25 |
SEBC | 153.75 | 146.75 |
SC | 138 | 132.75 |

Sportsperson | 99.75 | 99.75 |
These marks are based on the 200-mark main written exam and were reported with the certificate verification shortlist released in August 2026. They are shortlisting marks, not the final selection cut-off, which can be higher once post preferences and verification are complete.
Cut-off Trend
Between the two reported prelims cycles, the UR cut-off rose by about 4 marks and the SEBC cut-off by about 5.5 marks. Reserved category cut-offs also moved up slightly. A rising prelims cut-off usually points to more applicants, an easier paper or both. With the upper age limit now at 42, the applicant pool may stay large, so plan for a similar or slightly higher cut-off rather than a lower one.
How to Set Your Target Score
Use the last reported figure as a floor, not a goal. A practical target for UR candidates is about 115 net marks in the prelims and 160 or more out of 200 in the mains. Reserved category candidates can set a similar margin of 8 to 10 marks above their own category's last figure.
What Affects the Cut-off
Paper difficulty: An easier paper pushes scores and the cut-off up.
Vacancies: More posts in a category usually lower the cut-off for that category.
Number of applicants: A larger pool raises the competition at every stage.
Category and women reservation: Each category and the women's quota has its own cut-off.
Qualifying tests: Candidates who fail the CST or Mathematics Test drop out of posts that need them, which can change the effective cut-off for those posts.
Official result notices and shortlists are posted on the OSSC results page and in the What's New section of the OSSC website.
