Rajasthan 3rd Grade Teacher Eligibility: Qualification and Age Limit
Rajasthan 3rd Grade Teacher eligibility rests on three things: a valid REET certificate for your level, the right teaching qualification for that level and the age limit set in the notification. If any one of the three does not match, the application can be rejected even if you score well in the exam. This page explains each condition for Level 1 (Classes 1 to 5) and Level 2 (Classes 6 to 8) in plain terms.
The recruitment is conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB). We could not open the official notification PDF, so the conditions below come from consistent reports of the 2025-26 notification. Where reports differ, we flag it, and you should read the exact wording on the RSSB website before you apply.

The marks, age and certificate details can change between cycles, so treat this table as a quick check and not as a final ruling.
REET certificate requirement
The REET (Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers) certificate is issued by the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, and it is a separate exam from the RSSB recruitment paper. You must hold the certificate for the level you apply to.
Level 1: You need a REET Level 1 certificate.
Level 2: You need a REET Level 2 certificate, and for the subject-wise posts it must be in the subject group you choose, such as Social Science, Maths and Science, English, Hindi or Sanskrit.
Which REET years count: Coverage of the notification says certificates from REET 2022 and REET 2025 were accepted for this cycle. Check the validity rule in the notification before relying on an older certificate.
Passing REET alone does not make you a teacher. It only makes you eligible to sit the RSSB Mains paper, which decides the merit list.
Educational qualification for Level 1
Level 1 is for primary school teachers. The qualification routes reported for the 2025-26 notification are below.
Route | Academic marks | Professional qualification |
|---|---|---|
Route A | Senior secondary with at least 50 percent | Two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) |
Route B | Senior secondary with at least 45 percent | Two-year D.El.Ed. recognised under NCTE regulations |
Route C | Senior secondary with at least 50 percent | Four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) |
Sanskrit education posts | Varishtha Upadhyaya or equivalent with at least 50 percent | Two-year diploma in elementary education or four-year B.El.Ed. |
Which of Route A or Route B applies to you depends on your diploma and the year you completed it, so read the exact condition in the notification. Candidates still completing their D.El.Ed. should check whether the result deadline in the notification allows them to apply.
What about the general and Sanskrit streams?
The Level 1 vacancies are split between elementary (general) education and Sanskrit education. The Sanskrit stream follows its own qualification list, shown in the last row of the table, so confirm the stream you are applying for before you fill the form.
Educational qualification for Level 2
Level 2 is for upper primary teachers, and the qualification depends on your subject.
Social Science, Maths and Science, English and Hindi
Graduation plus diploma: A bachelor's degree plus a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
Graduation plus B.Ed.: A bachelor's degree with the minimum marks stated in the notification (reported as 50 percent) plus a B.Ed. degree.
Class 12 plus B.El.Ed.: Senior secondary with at least 50 percent plus a four-year B.El.Ed.
Postgraduation plus integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.: Postgraduation with at least 55 percent plus a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. programme, as reported.
Subject-matching rule
The degree you hold should include the subject you choose. For example, a candidate applying for Social Science would normally need history, geography, political science or economics in the graduation, and a Maths and Science candidate would need maths and science subjects. The notification lists the exact subject combinations, so check them before you pick your subject.
Sanskrit
Shastri route: Shastri or an equivalent degree plus a two-year diploma in elementary education.
Shastri with B.Ed.: Shastri with at least 45 percent plus a one-year B.Ed. recognised by NCTE.
Integrated route: Varishtha Upadhyaya with at least 50 percent plus a four-year Shastri-Shiksha Shastri or B.A.Ed. programme.
Age limit and relaxation
The age range reported for both levels is 18 to 40 years. One report mentions a minimum of 21 years and a counting date of 1 January 2027, while others show a minimum of 18 years. Since this is a point where sources disagree, take the minimum age and the reference date only from the notification.
Category | Upper age relaxation |
|---|---|
General (unreserved) male | No relaxation |
Reserved categories, women and other groups | As per Rajasthan government rules; the exact years are stated in the notification |
We are not quoting a relaxation figure because we could not verify it against an official document. Relaxation usually needs a valid category or domicile certificate from Rajasthan, so keep it ready.
Nationality, domicile and other conditions
Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen.
Rajasthan domicile: Domicile (Mool Niwas) certificates are checked at document verification. Reservation benefits for Rajasthan categories generally require a Rajasthan domicile, so confirm what applies to your category.
SSO ID: Applications are made through the Rajasthan SSO portal, so you need an active SSO ID with accurate details.
Character and conduct: Candidates must meet the character requirements for government service, and false information can lead to cancellation at any stage.
Special situations and common doubts
Final-year students
If your D.El.Ed., B.El.Ed. or B.Ed. result is still pending, check the last date by which the qualification must be complete. Candidates who do not hold the qualification by the date stated in the notification cannot be considered.
Qualifications from other states or universities
A degree or diploma earned outside Rajasthan can be valid if the institution and course are recognised by the relevant university and by NCTE. Keep the recognition details ready, because document verification checks them.
Can a B.Ed. holder apply for Level 1?
The Level 1 routes reported for this cycle list the D.El.Ed. and B.El.Ed. qualifications and do not list the B.Ed. Rules on this have changed in the past, so confirm the position in the notification before you apply.
Can I apply for both levels?
A candidate who holds the REET certificates and qualifications for both levels may be interested in both. Whether separate applications are allowed, and how the exam dates are handled, is stated in the notification, so read it before you apply.
Candidates with special categories
The published cut-offs include separate lines for women, widows, divorcees, ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities. Each of these groups needs the matching certificate at document verification, so apply under a category only if you can produce the document.
Who is not eligible
No REET certificate: Candidates without a certificate for the level and subject are not eligible.
Wrong level: A Level 1 certificate holder cannot apply for Level 2 posts, and the reverse is also true.
Marks below the minimum: Candidates below the required percentage in the qualifying examination are rejected.
Unrecognised qualification: Diplomas and degrees not recognised by NCTE or the relevant university are not accepted.
Outside the age window: Candidates below the minimum or above the maximum age, after relaxation, are not eligible.
Mismatched details: If the form does not match your certificates at document verification, the candidature can be cancelled.
Documents to keep ready
At document verification, shortlisted candidates are reported to bring original and attested copies of the following.
Document | Purpose |
|---|---|
Class 10 certificate | Proof of date of birth |
Class 12 and graduation marksheets | Academic base and minimum marks |
D.El.Ed., B.El.Ed. or B.Ed. certificate | Professional qualification |
REET certificate | Eligibility for the level and subject |
Domicile (Mool Niwas) certificate | Residence and category benefit |
Category or caste certificate | Reservation and age relaxation |
Character certificate | Conduct requirement |
How to check your eligibility before applying
Decide the level you want, based on the classes you wish to teach and the REET certificate you hold.
Match your degree and diploma with the routes given for that level and subject.
Calculate your age on the reference date given in the notification, with any category relaxation.
Check that every name, date of birth and roll number is the same across your certificates.
Confirm the result deadline for the qualifying course, so a pending result does not cancel your candidature.
