Rajasthan 3rd Grade Teacher Syllabus: Level 1 and Level 2
The Rajasthan 3rd Grade Teacher syllabus covers six broad areas for the REET Mains paper: Rajasthan geography, history and culture; general knowledge of Rajasthan and education; educational psychology and pedagogy; school subjects (Level 1) or the chosen subject (Level 2); and information technology. Knowing how these areas are weighted helps you decide where your first month of study should go.
The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) does not always publish a detailed topic-wise list alongside its notification, and the syllabus PDF we could find was from an earlier cycle. The topic lists below are therefore built from the syllabus structure that candidates and coaching coverage report, the school curriculum for the classes you will teach and the pattern of previous papers. Use them as a working checklist, not as an official list, and compare them with the RSSB website once the next notification is out.

Key changes to know
Mains, not Prelims: The REET eligibility test and this recruitment exam are different papers. Syllabus pages for REET Prelims focus on child development, languages, maths and environmental studies. Do not mix them up.
Rajasthan content is a full block: A large share of the paper is state-specific, which many aspirants under-prepare.
Subject depth differs by level: Level 2 expects knowledge of your subject beyond the school textbook, along with the method of teaching it.
Older syllabus PDFs circulate widely: Several sites link to files from 2022 or 2024. Check the year before relying on them.
Common syllabus for Level 1 and Level 2
These areas appear in both papers, so study them once and use them for either level.
Rajasthan geography, history, art and culture
Section | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
Geography | Physiographic divisions, climate, rivers and lakes, soils, forests, minerals, agriculture, irrigation projects, energy, population, tribal areas | Physical divisions and rivers |
History | Ancient sites such as Kalibangan and Ahar, major Rajput dynasties, the Mughal period in Rajasthan, 1857 and later movements, integration of states | Dynasties and key battles |
Art and culture | Folk music, dances, painting schools, handicrafts, forts and palaces, fairs and festivals, folk deities, saints, languages and dialects | Fairs, folk deities and painting schools |
History, fairs and folk art repeat the most across cycles, so they give a steady return on study time.

What overlaps between the two levels
Area | Level 1 | Level 2 | How to plan |
|---|---|---|---|
Rajasthan geography, history, culture | Full | Full | Study once; the same notes serve both levels |
Educational psychology and pedagogy | Full | Full | Study once; add subject pedagogy separately |
School subjects | Five subjects, primary level | One subject, deeper | Level 1 needs breadth; Level 2 needs depth |
Information technology | Basic | Basic | Short, finish early |
If you plan to appear for both levels, the shared blocks save you a large part of your preparation time.
High-weight topics and priorities
Because the paper is largely objective and the Rajasthan block is big, a few topic groups deserve extra time.
Priority | Topic group | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
High | Rajasthan history, fairs, folk deities and painting schools | Fact-based questions that repeat and can be answered quickly if you have revised |
High | Child development theories and teaching methods | Concept questions where wrong options are close to each other |
High (Level 2) | Your chosen subject | Largest single block and the main deciding factor in rank |
Medium | Rajasthan geography, resources and schemes | Numbers and lists need regular revision |
Medium | Current affairs and education policy | Needs monthly notes rather than a last-minute read |
Low | Information technology | Few questions, but easy marks if you have read the basics |
Is there an interview or descriptive paper?
No interview or descriptive paper has been reported for this recruitment. The syllabus therefore ends with the objective paper, and the later stage is document verification, which has no syllabus.
Common mistakes while following the syllabus
Studying only the subject: Level 2 candidates often neglect Rajasthan GK and pedagogy and lose easy marks.
Using one old PDF as the final word: Syllabus files differ between cycles, so match every topic with the latest notification.
Memorising theories without applying them: Pedagogy questions are usually based on classroom situations, so practise examples and not just definitions.
Skipping teaching methods: Even Level 1 school-subject questions include how a topic is taught, not just the content.
How to cover the syllabus

Weeks 5 to 8: Cover Rajasthan art, culture and GK, your school subjects or chosen subject, and information technology.
Weeks 9 to 12: Take topic-wise tests, revise weak chapters and add current affairs notes.
Final weeks: Attempt full-length papers, analyse each one and revise from your error log.
