Rajasthan Police SI Eligibility 2025: Age, Degree and Physical Standards
Rajasthan Police SI eligibility is set by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) advertisement and the Rajasthan Police Subordinate Service Rules, 1989. For the 2025 cycle (advertisement 05/2025-26, dated 17 July 2025), candidates needed a graduate degree, an age of 20 to 25 years as on 1 January 2026, and the height and chest standards for the post.
This page sets out each condition in the order you should check it: qualification, age and relaxations, physical standards, and the other conditions that can cost you the post at the document stage. RPSC checks eligibility in detail only after the written exam and PET, so make sure you qualify before you apply rather than after you clear the exam.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a degree from a university incorporated by a central or state act, an institution established by an act of Parliament, or an institution deemed to be a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. An equivalent qualification recognised by the government in consultation with the Commission is also accepted.
Any discipline: the advertisement does not restrict the subject of the degree or set a minimum percentage.
Final-year candidates: those who have appeared or are appearing in the final-year exam can apply, but must show proof of the degree before the interview. RPSC treats the first day of interviews as the start of the interview process.
Hindi and Rajasthani culture: working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari and knowledge of Rajasthani culture are part of the essential qualification.
Useful extras: a degree or diploma in criminology, an NCC "C" certificate, or police administration as a degree paper may be given weight at the interview.
Age Limit and Relaxation
The minimum age is 20 years and the maximum is 25 years as on 1 January 2026. Because these posts were not advertised between 2021 and 2025, candidates who were over the maximum age on 1 January 2026 get an additional three years in the upper age limit as provided in the rules.
Category | Upper age relaxation |
|---|---|
SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS men of Rajasthan | 5 years |
SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS women of Rajasthan | 10 years |
General category women | 5 years |
Ex-servicemen and reservists | Upper age limit of 40 years |
Rajasthan government employees, and dependants of police personnel killed on duty | 3 years |
Released emergency and short service commissioned officers | Treated as within age if eligible when commissioned |
These relaxations are not cumulative: only one provision applies, the one that gives the most benefit. A candidate who uses a concession such as age relaxation in a reserved category is not considered against unreserved vacancies, as per state circulars quoted in the advertisement.
Physical Standards
Rule 14 of the service rules requires good mental and bodily health, free from any defect that could interfere with police duties, and a medical certificate on selection.
Standard | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
Height | 168 cm | 152 cm |
Chest | 81 cm unexpanded, 86 cm expanded, minimum 5 cm expansion | Not applicable |
Weight | Not specified | 47.5 kg |
Sahariya candidates: the women's height and weight standard does not apply to Sahariya candidates.
SC and ST candidates: may be treated as fit with height and chest 5 cm lower, but only if enough suitable SC or ST candidates meeting the full standard are not available.
Garhwali and Gurkha candidates: minimum height of 160 cm, and chest of 79 cm unexpanded and 84 cm expanded.
These are separate from the Physical Efficiency Test, which scores a race, long jump and chin-ups or shot put out of 100.
Nationality, Domicile and Other Conditions
Reservation is for Rajasthan residents: SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS and ex-servicemen benefits apply only to original residents of Rajasthan. Reserved-category candidates from other states must apply as general.
Creamy layer: OBC and MBC creamy-layer candidates apply as general.
Scheduled area posts: only residents of Rajasthan's scheduled area can apply for scheduled area posts, and they must produce a residence certificate when asked.
Branch preference: candidates had to give an order of preference for Sub Inspector (AP), Sub Inspector (IB) and Platoon Commander (RAC).
Two-child rule: a candidate with more than two children on or after 1 June 2002 is not eligible for appointment, subject to the exceptions in the rules.
Character and police verification: a character certificate from the last institution, rated at least "good", and a police verification report are needed before appointment.
Serving employees: candidates already in government service need a no-objection certificate from their employer.
Who Is Not Eligible
No degree by the deadline: a final-year candidate who cannot show the degree before the interview.
Over age: a candidate above the upper limit even after the single relaxation that applies.
Physical standards not met: height, chest or weight below the standard, outside the stated relaxations.
Debarred candidates: anyone debarred by RPSC, UPSC or another recruiting body for unfair means.
Late certificates: caste, EWS or other category certificates must be issued on or before the last date of application, or the category benefit can be refused.
Applying without meeting the conditions and not withdrawing the form is treated seriously. The advertisement warns that such candidates can be debarred from recruitment exams.
Fee and Documents
RPSC charges a one-time registration fee: Rs. 600 for general and creamy-layer OBC or MBC candidates, and Rs. 400 for reserved categories of Rajasthan and persons with disabilities. Keep your degree, Class 10 certificate for date of birth, category and domicile certificates, and any relaxation documents ready for verification.
