Rajasthan Teacher Syllabus: Post-Wise Topic Checklist
The Rajasthan teacher syllabus is not a single list. The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) and the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) each publish their own scheme for the posts they recruit, and the topics change with the level you are targeting. This page gives you a post-wise checklist for 3rd Grade, 2nd Grade (Senior Teacher) and 1st Grade (School Lecturer) papers, and shows where the topics overlap so you study them once.
The official bodies publish detailed syllabi with each advertisement, and sometimes the detail differs between cycles. The topic lists below are built from the structure of recent papers and the broad areas announced for each post. Use them as a working checklist, and compare them with the syllabus attached to the notification you are applying to.

Key points to know before you start
Read the notification first: The syllabus published with your post is the one that counts. Older pages and videos may still show a previous scheme.
Rajasthan GK carries weight: It appears in the 3rd Grade and 2nd Grade papers as a named area. Treat it as a scoring section, not an extra.
Pedagogy is applied: Questions often ask you to apply a theory to a classroom situation, so definitions alone are not enough.
Subject depth depends on the post: A School Lecturer paper expects postgraduate depth, while a Senior Teacher paper stays closer to graduation level with teaching methods.
Subject names vary: RPSC papers are held subject by subject, so only your own subject syllabus matters for Paper II.
Common syllabus for most teacher papers
Several Rajasthan teacher papers share the same base. Cover these first, because they pay off across more than one exam.
Rajasthan general knowledge
History: Major dynasties and rulers of Rajasthan, the medieval period, the freedom struggle and the integration of princely states.
Art and culture: Fairs and festivals, folk music and dance, painting schools, handicrafts, architecture, forts and temples.
Geography: Physical regions, rivers and lakes, climate, soils, minerals, agriculture, irrigation and population.
Polity and administration: State government structure, the High Court, local self-government, commissions and boards.
Economy and schemes: State economy, key schemes, education policies and recent developments in Rajasthan.
General awareness and current affairs
Indian polity and economy: Constitution basics, institutions and economic concepts.
India and the world: Important events, awards, sports, science and technology.
Current affairs: The last 6 to 12 months, with extra weight on national education policy and Rajasthan updates.
Educational psychology and pedagogy
Growth and development: Stages, principles and influencing factors.
Learning theories: Behaviourist, cognitive, constructivist and social learning approaches, and the main thinkers.
Intelligence and personality: Theories, measurement and individual differences.
Teaching and assessment: Methods, lesson planning, continuous and comprehensive evaluation, and the role of the teacher.
Inclusive education: Learners with special needs, gifted learners, diversity and equity in the classroom.
3rd Grade Teacher: Level 1 and Level 2
3rd Grade recruitment draws candidates who hold the REET qualification, and the written paper reported for the latest cycle combined general sections with level-wise content. The reported structure included Rajasthan GK, general awareness, subject knowledge, pedagogy and an IT section. The detailed 3rd Grade pages on Testkart cover this exam in full, so this section only shows how it connects to the wider checklist.
Area | Level 1 (Classes 1 to 5) | Level 2 (Classes 6 to 8) |
|---|---|---|
Child development and pedagogy | Primary-school learners, play-based and activity-based learning, learning difficulties | Upper primary learners, adolescence, motivation, assessment |
Languages | Hindi and English grammar, comprehension and language pedagogy; Sanskrit where the notification asks | Language pedagogy with subject-level language knowledge |
Maths and environment or science | Arithmetic, geometry basics, environmental studies with pedagogy | Maths and science group or social science group with pedagogy |
Rajasthan GK and awareness | Common to both levels | Common to both levels |
IT and computer awareness | Basic computer knowledge, as reported | Basic computer knowledge, as reported |
Confirm the exact section list and weightage from the official RSSB notification, as the reported structure comes from secondary summaries.
2nd Grade (Senior Teacher) syllabus
The RPSC Senior Teacher examination is reported to have two papers. The first paper covers general studies and educational psychology, and the second tests the concerned subject along with pedagogy.
Paper I: general studies and educational psychology
Rajasthan history and culture: Ancient sites, medieval history, the freedom struggle, art, architecture, fairs and festivals.
Rajasthan geography and economy: Regions, rivers, resources, agriculture and development.
Political and administrative system: Structure of state administration, constitutional bodies and schemes.
General knowledge and current affairs: India and the world, Indian economy, Constitution and foreign policy basics.
Educational psychology: Learning theories, intelligence, development, motivation and individual differences.
Paper II: concerned subject
The subject paper tests content at graduation level, usually with a few questions on teaching methods. The subject list in the advertisement decides what you study. The popular subjects have a typical set of high-value areas.
Subject | Areas to prioritise |
|---|---|
Hindi | Grammar, literature history, poetics, prose and poetry forms, language pedagogy |
English | Grammar and usage, literature periods, comprehension, teaching of English |
Mathematics | Algebra, calculus basics, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, teaching of mathematics |
Science | Physics, chemistry and biology units at graduation level, with teaching of science |
Social Science | History, geography, political science and economics, with teaching of social science |
Sanskrit | Grammar, literature, classical works, translation and Sanskrit pedagogy |
Other subjects such as Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi and Gujarati have their own papers. The subject list and eligibility conditions for science and social studies are set in the advertisement.
1st Grade (School Lecturer) syllabus
The School Lecturer examination is held subject by subject and is reported to have a common general paper and a subject paper. The general paper tests awareness and general studies. The subject paper goes much deeper than the Senior Teacher paper and is expected at postgraduate level.
Paper I: general awareness and general studies
Rajasthan and India: History, geography, polity, economy and culture.
Current affairs: National and state-level developments.
Education-related awareness: Policy documents, school education structure and teaching concepts, as stated in the notification.
Paper II: concerned subject
Study the full subject at master's level, with equal care for all units because the paper is long and spread across the syllabus. For subjects such as History, Geography, Economics, Political Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Commerce or Hindi, begin with the units where you are weakest and keep a short note for each unit.
Physical education and coach posts
Some School Lecturer groups, such as physical education, have their own general and subject papers. Check the group-specific scheme in the notification, because the subjects, timing and papers differ.
Overlap between posts
If you plan to appear for more than one teacher exam, the overlap table shows what you can study once.
Area | 3rd Grade | 2nd Grade | 1st Grade | How to plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Rajasthan GK | Yes | Yes | Yes, in the general paper | Study once from a standard source and revise monthly |
Current affairs | Yes | Yes | Yes | Keep one running notebook for all exams |
Educational psychology | Yes | Yes | Limited, depends on the notification | Prepare it early for 3rd and 2nd Grade |
Subject content | School level | Graduation level | Postgraduate level | Prepare at the highest level you need |
IT awareness | Reported | Check notification | Check notification | Short revision is enough |
Is there a syllabus for the interview or later stages
For most of the teacher posts covered here, the main assessment is the written examination, followed by document verification and, for some posts, a medical examination. These stages do not have a topic syllabus. Whether any post carries an interview or a skill test is stated in its own advertisement, so check the selection process of your notification before assuming either way.
How to cover the syllabus
A phased plan keeps the work manageable, especially when you are balancing several posts or a job.
Weeks 1 to 6: Build the common base. Finish Rajasthan history, geography and culture and start educational psychology. Read current affairs for 30 to 40 minutes a day and write short monthly notes.
Weeks 7 to 12: Start the subject paper unit by unit. After each unit, attempt a topic test and note every mistake in an error log.
Weeks 13 to 16: Add polity, economy and the remaining Rajasthan topics such as schemes and administration. Begin sectional timed tests.
Final phase: Take full-length mocks in the real paper timing, analyse each one the same day and revise from your error log and short notes.
For topic-wise and full-length practice, you can attempt Rajasthan teacher online tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to decide which unit to revisit. Short notes made along the way are covered in the Rajasthan teacher study notes guide, and pairing practice with previous year papers shows how deep each subject paper really goes.
