RRB ALP Mock Test 2026: CBT 1, CBT 2 and CBAT Practice

Timed CBT 1, CBT 2 and CBAT practice in the CEN 01/2026 pattern, with a plan for every stage.

An RRB ALP mock test is a timed practice paper that follows the real pattern of CBT 1, CBT 2 or the aptitude test (CBAT). Mocks matter more than usual in this exam because every computer-based stage is short on time, carries negative marking in the written papers and is shortlisted RRB-wise against a moving cut-off.

The current cycle, CEN 01/2026, has 11,127 posts and CBT 1 is tentatively scheduled from 3 to 5 November 2026. The pattern changed this year: General Awareness is gone from CBT 1, and final merit now gives equal weight to CBT 2 Part A and CBAT. This page shows which tests to take, when to take them, how to analyse each attempt and which benchmarks to track.

Types of RRB ALP Mock Tests

Test type

What it covers

When to take it

CBT 1 full mock

75 questions in 60 minutes: Mathematics, Mental Ability and General Science

Weekly at first, then two or three a week before CBT 1

CBT 2 Part A full mock

100 questions in 90 minutes: Mathematics, Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering

After CBT 1, alongside topic tests

CBT 2 Part B trade test

75 questions in 60 minutes on your ITI trade or engineering branch

Every week until you clear 35% with ease

Full CBT 2 simulation

Part A and Part B together: 175 questions in 2 hours 30 minutes

Final three to four weeks before CBT 2

CBAT practice batteries

Memory, following directions, depth perception, concentration and perceptual speed

Short daily sessions, then full batteries before CBAT

Sectional and topic tests

One subject or chapter at a time

Throughout, to fix weak areas found in mocks

Practise in the 2026 Pattern

  • Skip General Awareness sections: Older CBT 1 mock series still include a GA section. Under CEN 01/2026, those questions are now Mathematics, reasoning and science, so practise papers built on three subjects.

  • Score with negative marking: CBT 1 and both parts of CBT 2 deduct one-third of a mark for each wrong answer. Always look at your net score, not attempts.

  • Treat CBAT as a scored stage: CBAT now carries 50 percent of final merit, and you need a T-score of at least 42 in every battery. It deserves regular practice, not a last-week revision.

How to Use RRB ALP Mock Tests

  1. Now until CBT 1: Take two to three CBT 1 mocks a week, and use the days in between for topic tests on the weakest areas from your last attempt.

  2. After CBT 1: Start Part A sectional tests, especially Basic Science and Engineering, and one Part B trade test a week. Add 15 to 20 minutes of CBAT practice daily.

  3. Final month before CBT 2: Take one full 175-question simulation a week to build stamina for the two-and-a-half-hour sitting.

  4. Between CBT 2 and CBAT: Shift most of your time to full CBAT batteries, since half of your final merit depends on them.

How to Analyse a Mock Test

A mock is only as useful as the hour you spend reviewing it. Sort every question into one of three groups.

  • Wrong answers: Note whether the cause was a concept gap, a calculation slip or a misread question. Concept gaps go into topic tests; slips go into an error log.

  • Slow questions: CBT 1 gives you about 48 seconds per question. Any question that took more than 90 seconds, even if correct, is a time leak to fix.

  • Skipped but solvable: Questions you left but could solve in review show where confidence, not knowledge, is costing marks.

Three wrong answers cancel one right answer, so if you can rule out even one option, an attempt is usually worth it. Blind guessing is not.

Benchmarks to Track

Metric

What to track

Why it matters

Net score

Score after negative marking, as a percentage

Compare it with your RRB's last cut-off

Accuracy

Correct answers divided by attempts

Low accuracy wipes out the gain from extra attempts

Section scores

Mathematics, reasoning and science separately

Shows where the next five marks will come from

Time per section

Minutes spent in each subject

Stops one subject from eating the whole paper

Part B score

Trade test marks out of 75

Below 26.25 ends your attempt, whatever your Part A score

Previous cut-offs vary widely by RRB, so set your target from your own board's figures on the RRB ALP cut-off page.

Official Mock Tests

For the CEN 01/2025 cycle, the RRBs released an official CBT 2 mock test link on their websites before the exam. It is useful for learning the exam screen, the question palette and the review buttons. Check your RRB's website and rrbapply.gov.in before each stage. The official mock is a single paper, so you still need a test series for regular practice.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Taking mocks without review: Ten reviewed mocks do more than thirty that are only scored.

  • Ignoring Part B: It is only qualifying, but failing it ends the attempt.

  • Leaving CBAT to the end: Aptitude speed builds slowly with daily practice.

  • Practising an old pattern: A GA-heavy CBT 1 paper trains the wrong time split.
