RRB Group D Cut Off 2026: Previous Year Marks and Trends

The RRB Group D cut off is the lowest normalised score needed in the CBT to be shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) in a particular RRB zone and category. For CEN 09/2025, the cut-off will be released with the result, which is still awaited after the answer key objection window closed on 15 September 2026. Until then, previous year cut-offs are the best guide.

Minimum Qualifying Marks vs Cut Off

These two are different. The qualifying marks only make you eligible. The cut-off decides who is actually called for the PET.

RRB Group D Cut Off (CEN 08/2024)

The CEN 08/2024 CBT result and cut-offs were released on 1 July 2026 on the regional RRB websites. Below are UR cut-offs (normalised marks out of 100) for zones where published figures match across sources:

RRB zone

UR cut off

Prayagraj

78.13

Chennai

78.01

Bhopal

77.73

Bhubaneswar

76.69

In these zones, UR candidates needed close to 77 to 78 marks out of 100 to reach the PET stage. Reserved category cut-offs were lower. For your zone and category, download the official cut-off PDF from the website of the RRB you applied to.

Factors That Will Decide the CEN 09/2025 Cut Off

  • Fewer vacancies: 22,195 posts, down from 32,438 in CEN 08/2024.

  • Heavy competition: Over 52 lakh applications, or about 236 per post.

  • Paper difficulty: Harder shifts usually push cut-offs down, and normalisation balances shifts.

  • Zone-wise vacancies: Zones with fewer posts, such as South Western Railway (Hubli) with 90 posts, can see tighter competition.

  • PET shortlist ratio: Candidates are called at three times the community-wise vacancies, so the cut-off is set by the score of the last candidate in that list.

What Score Should You Target?

Based on the CEN 08/2024 figures above, UR candidates should aim for a normalised score of around 80 or more to stay on the safer side, especially since this cycle has fewer posts. Reserved category candidates can work with a lower target, but the safest approach is to aim high, because the exact cut-off is known only after the result.
