RRB JE EC Cut Off: Previous Year Marks and Target Score
The RRB JE EC cut-off is not a single number. Each Railway Recruitment Board publishes its own cut-off for every community and post category, and RRBs do not publish a separate Electronics and Communication cut-off. Candidates in this discipline are measured against the post category they applied for, usually in the S&T group.
This page explains the minimum qualifying marks, the verified benchmark from the previous cycle and how to set your own target for CEN 04/2026. All figures are benchmarks, not predictions.
Minimum Qualifying Marks
Before any cut-off applies, you must reach the minimum percentage for your community in CBT 1. Clearing it only makes you eligible.
Community | Minimum qualifying marks |
|---|---|
UR and EWS | 40% |
OBC (NCL) and SC | 30% |
ST | 25% |
These percentages may be relaxed for PwBD candidates if there is a shortfall against PwBD vacancies, as stated in the notification.
Previous Cut-Off Benchmark (CEN 05/2025)
CBT 1 cut-offs are published as normalised marks out of 100, separately for each post category number. The table gives the reported range for the previous cycle across boards and categories.
Cycle and stage | Reported UR range (out of 100) |
|---|---|
CEN 05/2025, CBT 1 | Low 60s to about 87, depending on RRB and post category |
Reserved categories sat below UR: SC cut-offs were about 5 to 10 marks lower, and ST cut-offs about 14 to 17 marks lower in the boards compared. No verified cut-off specific to Electronics and Communication is available, because the figures belong to category numbers that map to different posts at different boards. Find your own category number in your application before comparing.
For CBT 2, RRBs published a document verification cut-off as a merit index, not as marks out of 150. Treat any "expected" cut-off you see elsewhere as an estimate and not official.
What Affects the Cut-Off
Vacancies per category: few seats in a community can raise the cut-off.
Applicants per RRB: boards with heavy demand push scores up.
Shift difficulty: normalisation adjusts raw scores across shifts before cut-offs are set.
Post preference: popular posts fill first and carry higher cut-offs.
How to Set Your Target Score
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.
Find your benchmark: look at the last published cut-off for your RRB, community and a similar post category.
Add a margin: aim for roughly 5 to 8 marks above it, because negative marking of one-third mark per wrong answer costs more than expected.
Split your effort: clear CBT 1 safely, then give most time to the 100-mark Technical Abilities section in CBT 2, which decides final merit.
