Delhi Police AWO/TPO Eligibility
Delhi Police AWO/TPO eligibility must be checked across education, age, nationality, physical standards, practical skills and documents. Meeting the education rule is only one part of the process. This page explains the checks in an order you can use before applying or preparing for later stages.
The rules below are tied to the 2025 recruitment notice. Its age reference date and qualification deadline are historical. They must not be presented as the dates for a future recruitment. If a new notice is issued, repeat every check against that document before paying an application fee or relying on an older guide.
Table of Contents
Eligibility at a Glance
Check | 2025-notice reference |
|---|---|
Citizenship | Indian citizenship |
Education | Senior secondary with Science and Mathematics, or the specified NTC route |
Ordinary age band | 18 to 27 years as on 1 July 2025; notified relaxations apply |
Professional skills | Computer proficiency as prescribed |
Physical requirements | Sex- and age-specific endurance events plus applicable measurements |
Verification | Original documents and prescribed medical standards |
Use the table as an index, not a substitute for the details. For example, “NTC route” does not mean that every trade certificate is accepted. Likewise, a relaxation available to one category may not apply to another. Record the notice paragraph beside each condition that affects you.
Educational Qualification and the Correct Deadline
The reference notice accepts senior secondary from a recognised board with Science and Mathematics as subjects, or a National Trade Certificate in Mechanic-cum-Operator Electronic Communication System. Check the wording on your marksheet or certificate rather than relying on how your course is described informally.
The education condition is linked to the closing date of the application form in that recruitment. A candidate should be able to prove that the result was declared and the qualification was obtained by the required date. Attendance at an examination or an expected future result does not by itself prove that condition.
Keep the final or provisional certificate and the relevant marksheets together. If a document uses a different spelling of your name, identify the supporting record required before verification. Do not wait until a stage call letter arrives to discover that you cannot produce a readable original.
Do not add a minimum percentage, a mandatory degree or an extra trade qualification unless your applicable notification actually requires it. A qualification above senior secondary does not automatically repair a missing subject combination. Where equivalence is relevant, obtain the documentary basis accepted by the recruiting authority.
Age Limit and Date of Birth
For the 2025 notice, the ordinary age band is 18 to 27 years as on 1 July 2025. The stated ordinary date-of-birth window runs from 2 July 1998 to 1 July 2007, before applicable relaxations. Use the date recorded in the matriculation or secondary certificate when checking the rule.
Calculate your age on the notice’s reference date, not on the day you read this article. Those dates may be months apart. Write down the reference date, the ordinary limit and the exact relaxation you intend to claim so that your calculation can be checked.
A category certificate and an age relaxation are related but separate questions. You must belong to the applicable category under the recruitment rules and possess the required evidence. Do not assume that every certificate issued for another exam or state benefit satisfies this recruitment.
Age Relaxations in the Reference Notice
Category or condition | Reference provision |
|---|---|
SC/ST | Up to 5 years beyond the ordinary upper limit |
OBC | Up to 3 years, subject to notified category/certificate conditions |
Ex-servicemen | Service deduction and the prescribed residual-age rule |
Delhi Police departmental candidates | Notified upper limits and qualifying service conditions |
Specified women and sportsperson categories | Special provisions in the notice; evidence and conditions required |
The special-category rows deliberately point you to the detailed provision. Departmental service, sportsperson status and the specified women’s categories have conditions beyond a simple number. Read the complete paragraph and certificate instructions before deciding that a concession applies.
Do not automatically add two relaxations together. Some rules expressly limit combined benefits, and a concession in measurement is not the same thing as a concession in age. If your case is unusual, seek a clarification through the authority’s official channel with the exact notice paragraph and document details.
Physical Endurance and Measurements
The reference notice sets different endurance requirements by sex and age band. For the up-to-30 band, male candidates face a 1,600-metre race and female candidates an 800-metre race, together with the prescribed jumping events. Older eligible groups have their own table. Read your actual row rather than using a single standard shared on social media.
The ordinary measurement references are 170 cm male height and 157 cm female height, with the male chest requirement and specified relaxations given separately. Relaxations depend on the exact notified group and documentary support. A physical standard is not waived merely because a candidate has a high written score.
Before a later-stage appointment, check your call letter for the location, reporting time, identification and documents. Follow the authority’s instructions about measurement appeals and stage results. Keep any written acknowledgement or result slip provided to you.
Preparation should begin early enough to avoid treating endurance work as an emergency after the CBE. The appropriate pace and training depend on the individual. The recruitment notice establishes the assessment standard; it does not provide a personalised training programme.
Computer and Trade Skills
Professional attainment includes qualifying computer operation. The reference English word-processing requirement is 1,000 key depressions in 15 minutes, assessed under the notice’s own procedure. Basic computer functions are tested separately through practical application tasks. Do not use an unrelated typing website’s pass label as proof that you satisfy the official test.
The trade assessment covers reading and dictation in Hindi and English. Develop accurate message handling, careful listening and clear reading. It is a different task from entering an English passage into a word processor. Your preparation checklist should name both tasks so that one is not forgotten.
Use the AWO/TPO exam pattern guide for stage order and the AWO/TPO syllabus checklist for written subjects. On Testkart, compare relevant course or practice descriptions with the actual requirements. An objective course may help your CBE but may not include practical computer instruction.
Medical and Document Verification
The recruiting authority applies the prescribed medical standards and verifies supporting documents. Read the complete medical paragraph in the official notice, including the vision provisions, rather than relying on a general statement that a candidate should be fit. Final assessment belongs to the designated authority.
Build a folder for date-of-birth proof, educational evidence, category documents where applicable, identification, application records and stage call letters. Add NOC, discharge, departmental-service, hill-area or other certificates only where your claim requires them. Check validity and format as well as possession.
Keep originals and the requested copies ready, with a separate digital backup for your own use. A scanned copy is useful for organisation but does not replace an original where the instructions demand one. Follow any official opportunity to remedy a missing document within the stated time; do not assume that an extension will always be granted.
Common Eligibility Mistakes to Avoid
Using the wrong post: AWO/TPO, Ministerial and Constable Executive have different requirements. Read the full post name.
Ignoring the subject condition: “12th pass” is an incomplete description of the notified technical education routes.
Calculating age on today’s date: Use the reference date printed in your cycle’s notice.
Assuming every concession combines: Read the exact category rule and any limitation on double benefits.
Confusing admission with final eligibility: A call letter or written result can remain provisional until checks are complete.
Testkart preparation can help you organise study after the eligibility checks are clear. Keep your personal eligibility record separate from mock-test scores, and return to it whenever a new notification or stage instruction changes what must be produced.
Make a Document-to-Claim Record
List each claim you make in an application beside the document that proves it. A date-of-birth entry points to the matriculation certificate; an education entry points to the relevant marksheets and qualification; a relaxation claim points to the specific prescribed evidence. This makes omissions visible before verification.
If you are preparing for a future recruitment, leave cycle-specific dates blank until its official notice is released. Then update the record from that source. Use the AWO/TPO exam overview to keep historical dates separate from your new application checklist.
Your Final Eligibility Check
Before submitting any future application, make a one-page record with the notification title, cycle, reference dates, education route, age calculation and claims for relaxation. Add the certificate that proves each claim. If one line is uncertain, resolve it from an official instruction before treating yourself as eligible.
This approach prevents avoidable errors without turning a simple check into guesswork. You should be able to explain why each condition is met and show the supporting document. The official notice and its corrigenda remain the controlling sources for the recruitment.
Check the official AWO/TPO recruitment notice for the complete rules and Delhi Police recruitment updates for stage-specific instructions. The rules described here belong to the 2025 recruitment cycle; do not transfer its age reference date or application window to a future notification.
