Tech Mahindra Cut Off 2026: How Shortlisting Works
Tech Mahindra does not publish an official cut off for its fresher assessment, and none appears on its public careers pages. Shortlisting is decided by your performance in each section of the online test, and the passing score can shift with every drive. This page explains how that works, shows the indicative figures candidates report, and helps you set a safe target.
Treat every number here as a benchmark only. None of it comes from Tech Mahindra, and the company can change its thresholds at any time.
How Tech Mahindra shortlisting works
Reports describe sectional elimination in the online assessment. You must clear the minimum in each eliminating section on its own, which in the ELQ-style format means aptitude, technical and communication. A high score in one section does not make up for a low score in another. Candidates who clear the test move on to the written task and interviews, as set out on the Tech Mahindra exam pattern page.
Indicative sectional figures (unofficial)
Section | Reported approximate cut off (per cent correct) |
|---|---|
Aptitude | 60 to 65 |
Technical MCQs | 50 to 55 |
Communication | About 60 |
These figures are not official. They come from a candidate-preparation article that bases them on reports from recent drive cycles, and they may not apply to your drive. Coding is reported to be scored by test cases passed rather than by a fixed percentage.
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.
What affects the cut off
Test difficulty: a harder paper usually lowers the passing score.
Hiring volume: the number of positions open in a given cycle influences how many candidates are moved ahead.
Candidate pool: off-campus drives with very large applicant numbers tend to be more competitive.
Role and track: higher pay tracks are reported to depend on coding performance, so the bar for those is stricter.
How to set your target
Aim above the benchmark: target around 70 per cent in aptitude and communication and 60 per cent or more in technical MCQs, since these give a margin over the reported bands.
Track every section separately: your weakest section decides your result, not your average.
Use accuracy, not just attempts: with sectional timers, a clean 80 per cent accuracy on attempted questions usually beats a rushed full attempt.
Test coding on its own: aim to pass every test case on easy and medium problems under time.
Educators publish tests, courses and notes on Testkart, and this exam's pages show what is currently available if you want material to measure yourself against these targets.
