TNPSC Study Notes: What to Cover and How to Revise

TNPSC study notes for General Studies, Tamil Nadu units, Tamil and aptitude, built for quick revision.

Good TNPSC study notes turn a large syllabus into something you can revise in a few days. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission's Group 1, Group 2 and Group 4 exams share six General Studies units, aptitude and a Tamil paper, so one well-organised set of notes can serve more than one exam. The aim is not to copy textbooks but to keep the facts, dates and links you will need again.

How to Organise Your Notes

  • One page per topic: Keep each unit's notes short enough to revise in 15 minutes.

  • Monthly current affairs file: Record state schemes, appointments and events by month, since TNPSC asks them inside each unit.

  • Formula sheet: One sheet for percentage, ratio, interest, area and time and work.

  • Error log: Note every question you get wrong in practice, with the correct fact.

  • Language of the exam: Make notes in the language you will read questions in, Tamil or English.

Revision Schedule

  1. Same day: Read the day's notes once before you sleep.

  2. Weekly: Revise the week's units and the error log on one fixed day.

  3. Monthly: Go through all units and the current affairs file.

  4. Final four weeks: Revise only from notes and the error log, alongside full mocks.
