TSPSC Group 1 Eligibility 2026: Age, Qualification

TSPSC Group 1 eligibility is set post by post in the Group-I Services notification of the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC, earlier TSPSC). Any Indian citizen with a bachelor's degree can apply for most posts, but age limits, a few degree requirements and physical standards differ by post. The rules below are from Notification No. 02/2024, the latest Group 1 notification as of 20 October 2026.

Two dates matter most. Your degree result must be declared by the date of the notification (19 February 2024 in the last cycle), and your age is reckoned as on a fixed date (1 July 2024 in the last cycle). This page covers qualification, age limits and relaxations, physical standards, local status and the common reasons candidates are found ineligible. Expect the dates to move forward in the next notification.

Equivalent qualifications

If you hold a qualification claimed as equivalent, you must produce the equivalence order from the competent authority. Without it, the candidature is not considered.

  • Health and character: You must be of sound health and free from any bodily defect that makes you unfit for service, with character and antecedents suitable for the service.

  • Local reservation: 95% of posts in each multi-zone are reserved for local candidates. Local status is mainly based on four consecutive academic years of study (or residence) in the local area ending with Class 7, the relevant qualifying examination under G.O.Ms.No.124 of 2018.

  • Candidates from other states: You can apply, but you are not entitled to any reservation.

  • Disability reservation: It does not apply to DSP, RTO, Deputy Superintendent of Jails and Assistant Excise Superintendent. For CTO and Municipal Commissioner it is limited to certain disability types under the service rules.

Who Is Not Eligible

  • Result not declared in time: Final-year students whose degree result comes after the notification date.

  • Over or under age: Candidates outside the post's age window after any relaxation they can prove with certificates.

  • Wrong degree for the post: For example, a non-engineering graduate applying for RTO, or a graduate without a second class in Commerce, Economics or Mathematics applying for ATO/AAO.

  • Unrecognised distance degrees: Degrees without the required UGC, AICTE or DEB recognition.

  • Physical standards not met: For DSP, Assistant Excise Superintendent and Jails posts.

  • False declarations: Incorrect information can lead to rejection and debarment from future Commission exams.

How to Check Your Eligibility

  1. Pick your target posts: List the posts you want, since age limits, degree rules and physical standards differ by post.

  2. Check the age date: Work out your age on the reckoning date in the new notification, then add any relaxation you can prove with a certificate.

  3. Check the degree date: Make sure your degree result was declared on or before the notification date.

  4. Confirm local status: Collect study certificates for Class 1 to 7, or a residence certificate, to prove local status.

  5. Update your OTR: Correct any detail in your One Time Registration before you apply, because the application uses OTR data and later changes are not considered.

Fee and Documents

In the 2024 cycle, applicants paid a Rs. 200 application processing fee and a Rs. 120 examination fee; unemployed applicants did not pay the examination fee, and those who had paid under the cancelled 2022 notification did not pay again. At certificate verification you need originals of your degree, SSC or equivalent for date of birth, study certificates from Class 1 to 7 (or a residence certificate), community and non-creamy layer or EWS certificates, and a no objection certificate if you are employed.

Always confirm the age date and qualification deadline in the next notification on the TGPSC notifications page.
