UP PGT Commerce Cut Off 2026: Previous Year Marks and Target Score

The UP PGT Commerce cut off for 2026 has not been released, because the written exam is scheduled for 15 and 16 December 2026. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) publishes cut-off marks after the result, and earlier releases were subject-wise, category-wise and gender-wise.

Until then, earlier-cycle figures are the only reference. They come from a different paper, so use them as a rough benchmark and not as a target.

These figures are reported by secondary websites. The official cut-off PDFs are on upessc.up.gov.in. Some pages also show TGT Commerce cut-offs, which belong to a different post and should not be mixed with PGT figures.

Why You Cannot Compare Old Cut Offs Directly

The earlier PGT paper had 125 questions with 3.4 marks each and no negative marking, as shown on older pages. The 2026 paper has 120 questions of 3 marks, 30 of them General Knowledge, with 1 mark deducted for wrong answers. Secondary sites also do not explain how the earlier figures were calculated. Treat them as a sign of how competitive Commerce is, not as a score to aim for.

What Affects the UP PGT Commerce Cut Off

  • Paper difficulty: A harder paper lowers the cut-off, and an easier one raises it.

  • Vacancies: Subject-wise tables reported by secondary sources show 78 Commerce posts (62 boys, 16 girls). Confirm the figure in the notification.

  • Number of applicants: More applicants for the same posts push the cut-off up.

  • Category and gender: Separate lists are published for boys' and girls' categories.

  • Negative marking: Wrong answers reduce scores, so overall marks tend to be lower than in a paper without deductions.

How to Set Your Target Score

Cut-offs change every year, so aim for a clear margin and not a bare pass. Your final merit is out of 400, made up of 360 written marks and 40 interview marks.

  • Track accuracy: In mocks, aim for accuracy above 85 percent on the questions you attempt.

  • Use full-length mocks: Take 120-question papers under timed conditions, and watch the trend over several tests.

  • Plan for the interview: A good interview adds up to 40 marks, which matters when written scores are close.
