UPHESC Assistant Professor Cut Off: What to Expect
The UPHESC Assistant Professor cut off decides who is called for the interview and who makes the final list. For the current cycle, Advertisement No. 04/2026, the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has not published any cut-off, and the written exam is scheduled for 19 and 20 November 2026. This page therefore does not quote a made-up number. It explains what is known, what to ignore and how to set a target.
What has and has not been published
Cycle | Written marks | Cut-off status |
|---|---|---|
Advertisement No. 04/2026 (current) | 360 | Not published, as the exam is yet to be held |
Advertisement No. 51 (re-exam, April 2026) | 200 | Subject-wise merit lists were released in June 2026, and reports put the number called for interview at about 3,155 (indicative) |
Exam of April 2025 | 200 | Cancelled in January 2026, so its scores are not a valid benchmark |
The commission releases results as subject-wise lists, and category-wise qualifying marks can be read from those lists on the UPESSC website. We have not copied subject-wise marks here because they could not be verified from the official PDFs for this draft.
Why older cut-off figures mislead
You may see tables of "previous year" cut-offs online. Be careful with them for three reasons.
Different paper: The earlier paper was out of 200 marks with no negative marking. The current one is out of 360 with a penalty, so the numbers are not comparable.
Cancelled exam: Figures linked to the April 2025 exam come from a paper that was cancelled.
Subject-wise merit: Merit is prepared subject-wise and category-wise, so a single "overall" cut-off says little about your subject.
What affects the cut-off
Vacancies in your subject: Subjects with few posts tend to close at higher scores.
Number of candidates: A crowded subject lifts the cut-off.
Paper difficulty: A harder subject paper lowers marks across the board.
Category and college type: Posts are split between co-educational and women's colleges, and across categories.
Interview marks: The final list uses written plus interview marks out of 400.
How to set your target score
Work from accuracy: Each correct answer is worth 3 marks and each wrong one costs 1. For example, 85 correct and 15 wrong out of 100 attempts gives 255 minus 15, which is 240.
Aim for a margin: Treat any earlier figure as a benchmark only, and aim to score clearly above it rather than at it.
Track your subject separately: Since the subject section carries 270 marks, record your subject score and General Knowledge score as two numbers in every mock test.
Use the last five mocks: Take the average of your last five full-length mocks, not your best one.
