How the PET fits in
The Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) is the common gateway for UPSSSC Group C recruitment, and its score is valid for three years. For this cycle, the PET score was used to shortlist candidates for the mains exam. UPSSSC has also notified PET 2026 (Advertisement No. 16-Exam/2026), so aspirants who miss a current cycle can aim for future ones.
Cut-off reference
For the typing test shortlist, the reported written exam cut-off was 73.50 for Unreserved, SC, OBC and EWS candidates and 66.00 for ST candidates.
How to prepare
The paper is short and every section carries visible marks, so steady coverage of all five sections beats going deep on one.
Start with Hindi: It carries 30 marks, the largest block. Grammar, vocabulary and comprehension improve with daily practice.
Secure computer marks: Fifteen marks come from topics that are scoring once the basics of hardware, software, MS Office and the internet are clear.
Build Uttar Pradesh GK separately: State history, geography, polity, economy and schemes make up 20 marks and are often neglected.
Practise typing early: The typing test is qualifying, but a candidate who has not practised will struggle. Keep 20 to 30 minutes a day on Hindi and English typing.
Test under time pressure: Attempt full papers in two hours and review wrong and skipped questions the same day. For timed practice, you can attempt online tests for this exam on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to plan revision.
