XAT Cut-off: XLRI and Other B-School Percentiles from Previous Years

There is no single XAT cut-off. Each institute that accepts XAT sets its own shortlisting cut-off, usually as a percentile. XLRI Jamshedpur publishes both an overall percentile and sectional percentiles for its BM and HRM programmes, with different figures by gender and, for HRM, by academic background. Your percentile is based on Part 1 only (VALR, DM and QA-DI); GK is not included.

This page lists XLRI's XAT cut-offs from 2023 to 2026 and reported figures for other XAT-accepting institutes. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty and the number of applicants. Treat these figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them for XAT 2027.

These are not official figures. They are approximate cut-offs reported by education portals, and different portals list slightly different numbers. Many of these institutes also weigh academics, work experience and their own selection rounds, so treat these as rough calls, not guarantees. For XIM University, reported 2024 cut-offs were about 87 to 88 for domicile candidates and 91 to 92 for non-domicile candidates in BM, which shows how one institute can apply different cut-offs to different groups.

What Affects the XAT Cut-off

  • Paper difficulty: A tougher paper lowers raw scores, but because cut-offs are percentiles, the effect shows up mainly in score-to-percentile conversion.

  • Number of candidates: More strong applicants push percentile cut-offs up.

  • Seats and diversity goals: Institutes adjust cut-offs by gender and academic background to keep a balanced batch.

  • Sectional balance: XLRI's sectional cut-offs mean one weak section can rule you out even if your overall percentile is high.

How to Set Your XAT 2027 Target

  1. Pick your target institutes: Note the latest overall and sectional cut-offs for each programme you want.

  2. Add a margin: Aim for 2 to 3 percentile points above the last overall cut-off, because cut-offs move and calls also depend on profile.

  3. Protect every section: For XLRI BM, that means staying comfortably above the mid-80s percentile in QA-DI, VALR and DM.

  4. Track it in mocks: Set a sectional score target in each mock and check whether you are meeting it every time, not just once.

Official notices on cut-offs and results appear on the XAT website.
