CRPF Constable Tradesman Syllabus 2026: CBT Topics and Preparation Plan
The CRPF Constable (Technical and Tradesmen) syllabus 2026 is short compared with most government exams, but it spans four subjects, a trade test and a physical test. This page covers the Constable (Technical and Tradesmen) and Pioneer recruitment from the CRPF notice dated 8 April 2026. It does not cover Constable GD (see the SSC GD syllabus) or the CRPF Paramedical Staff recruitment, which have different papers.
Honesty note: CRPF names the four CBT sections and gives only a short topic summary in its notice. It does not publish a chapter-wise syllabus. The topic lists below are built from that summary, the Matriculation level the notice states, and the type of questions normally asked at this level. Use them as a working checklist, not as an official list.

Key points to know before you start
Level is Matriculation: questions are based on Class 10 level concepts, so there is no need for advanced books.
Equal weight for each section: every section carries 25 marks, so a weak section cannot be ignored.
Language choice: the last section is English or Hindi. Pick the language you read fastest.
Bilingual paper: the CBT is conducted in English and Hindi only.
Older pages may differ: older articles may list a different pattern or syllabus for earlier recruitment years, so follow the latest official notice.
General Intelligence and Reasoning syllabus
The notice describes this section as mostly non-verbal. That means figures and patterns matter more than words, and practice builds speed more than theory does.
Area | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
Analogy and classification | Figure analogy, odd one out, grouping of figures | Figure analogy |
Series | Number, letter and figure series, pattern completion | Number series |
Coding and decoding | Letter and number coding, symbol coding | Letter coding |
Visual reasoning | Visual memory, mirror and water images, paper folding, embedded figures | Mirror images |
Spatial reasoning | Counting figures, cubes and dice, spatial orientation | Dice and cubes |
Verbal topics such as blood relations, direction sense and ranking may still appear, so give them a short revision before the exam, but spend most of your practice time on the non-verbal areas.
General Knowledge and General Awareness syllabus
This section has the widest range and the least fixed boundary. The notice lists current events and static subjects together.
Subject | Topics to cover |
|---|---|
Current events | Important national and international events of the last 6 to 12 months, awards, sports events, appointments |
India and neighbouring countries | Borders, capitals, rivers, key relations |
History and culture | Major movements of the freedom struggle, art forms, festivals |
Geography | Indian states and capitals, rivers, mountains, climate, resources |
Economy and polity | Basics of the Constitution, fundamental rights, banking terms, government schemes |
General science | Everyday physics, chemistry and biology of Class 9 and 10 |
Sports and defence | Major tournaments, recent winners, security forces and their roles |
Knowing the work and structure of the Central Armed Police Forces is a sensible bonus topic for this exam, since the force itself is the context.
Elementary Mathematics syllabus
Elementary Mathematics is the most predictable section, and a good score here can carry the paper.
Topic | What to practise |
|---|---|
Number system | Types of numbers, divisibility, LCM and HCF, simplification |
Decimals and fractions | Operations, comparison, conversions |
Percentage | Basic percentage, increase and decrease |
Ratio and proportion | Ratios, sharing, proportion problems |
Average | Simple averages, change in average |
Profit, loss and discount | Cost price, selling price, marked price |
Interest | Simple interest, basics of compound interest |
Mensuration | Area and perimeter of common shapes, volume of simple solids |
Time and distance, time and work | Speed, trains, pipes and work, efficiency |
Memorise tables up to 20, squares up to 30 and common fraction-percentage equivalents. They save time in every topic above.
English or Hindi syllabus
The notice states basic comprehension. In practice, expect short questions on the following areas in whichever language you choose.
Reading comprehension: short passages with direct questions.
Grammar: tenses, articles, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, or the Hindi equivalents such as sandhi, samas and karak.
Vocabulary: synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution, idioms and phrases.
Error spotting and sentence improvement: small corrections in given sentences.
Trade test and physical test: is there a syllabus?
There is no written syllabus for these stages. The notice describes the requirement instead.
Stage | What is tested | Nature |
|---|---|---|
Physical Efficiency Test | Race, 5 km in 24 minutes for men in Driver and several other trades; shorter races for other trades | Qualifying |
Trade test | Practical tasks of your trade, such as driving and vehicle maintenance, tailoring, cobbling, cooking or masonry and electrical work | Qualifying, 50 marks, minimum 20 |
Both are qualifying, so they do not add to your merit marks but can end your selection.
How to cover the syllabus step by step
Weeks 1 to 3, build the base: revise Class 8 to 10 maths, make a formula sheet, and begin a daily 30-minute reading habit for general awareness. Start the physical routine as well.
Weeks 4 to 6, practise by topic: solve 20 to 30 questions a day in one maths and one reasoning topic. Add current affairs notes every week.
Weeks 7 to 9, move to sections: take 20-minute sectional tests and keep an error log of every wrong or skipped question.
Weeks 10 onwards, full papers: attempt full-length 100-question papers in 2 hours, review the section-wise analysis the same day and revise from the error log.
