DSSSB TGT Eligibility 2026: Age Limit and Qualification
The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) recruits Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) for Delhi government schools, mainly under the Directorate of Education. The DSSSB TGT eligibility 2026 rules have three parts: a bachelor's degree in the teaching subject with at least 50% marks, a B.Ed, and a pass in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), along with an upper age limit of 30 years and category-wise relaxation.
This page explains each condition as printed in the current DSSSB advertisements, including the crucial date for age and qualification, subject-wise rules, the OBC (Delhi) condition and common reasons for rejection. It covers the TGT posts under Advertisement No. 06/2025 and the TGT (Computer Science) post under Advertisement No. 03/2026, whose rules differ in places.
Table of Contents

Crucial Dates That Decide Your Eligibility
DSSSB judges your age, qualification and experience as on the closing date of the online application. It uses the same date for category benefits such as OBC or EWS status.
Advertisement | TGT posts covered | Crucial date |
|---|---|---|
06/2025 | TGT Mathematics, English, Social Science, Natural Science, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Punjabi, Drawing Teacher, Special Education Teacher (NDMC) | 7 November 2025 |
03/2026 | TGT (Computer Science) and other teaching posts in that notice | 15 July 2026 |
In practice, this means your final degree result, B.Ed result and CTET result must all be declared on or before the crucial date. A result that comes out later does not count, even if you were studying at the time you applied.
DSSSB TGT Educational Qualification
For subject TGT posts under Advertisement No. 06/2025, you need all three of the following.
1. Degree in the Teaching Subject
Any one of these routes meets the degree condition:
Bachelor's route: A bachelor's degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks from a recognised university or institute. The subject must have been studied for at least 2 years.
Master's route: A master's degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks in either the bachelor's or the master's degree.
Integrated route: A 4-year integrated B.El.Ed, B.Sc.B.Ed or B.A.B.Ed from an NCTE-recognised institution, with the subject studied for at least 3 years.
The notice does not mention rounding of percentages, so do not assume that a score just below 50% will be rounded up. Older pages may still show the earlier 45% requirement, so follow the current advertisement.
2. B.Ed
You need a B.Ed or a 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed from a recognised university or institute. If you hold a 4-year integrated B.El.Ed, B.Sc.B.Ed or B.A.B.Ed, no separate B.Ed is required.
3. CTET
The advertisement asks for a pass in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by CBSE. TGT aspirants usually hold CTET Paper II, which covers classes 6 to 8; the notice itself only says "a pass in CTET", so read the advertisement carefully if you hold only Paper I. A state TET does not replace CTET for these posts, so make sure your CTET pass is in hand before the crucial date.
DSSSB may relax qualifications for candidates who are otherwise well qualified, at its discretion and for recorded reasons. This is rare, so plan on meeting every condition as written.
Subject-wise Qualification Rules
On top of the general rules, each TGT subject has a "studied as a subject" condition. The table sums up what the current advertisements require.
Post | Subject requirement |
|---|---|
TGT Mathematics | Must have studied Mathematics as a subject |
TGT English | Must have studied English as a subject |
TGT Social Science | At least one of History, Political Science, Geography, Economics, Sociology, Business Studies or Statistics |
TGT Natural Science | At least one of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Anthropology, Life Science, Electronics, Bio-Technology, Bio-Chemistry, Bio-Medical Science, Molecular Cell Biology, Micro Biology, Applied Science or Geology |
TGT Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Punjabi | Bachelor's in that language with 50% (language studied for at least 2 years), or a master's in it, or a 4-year integrated degree with the language studied for 3 years |
Drawing Teacher | Five-year diploma in Drawing, Painting, Sculpture or Graphic Art; or a master's in Drawing and Painting or Fine Art; or a bachelor's in Drawing, Painting or Fine Art plus a two-year full-time diploma. Hindi up to secondary level is desirable |
Special Education Teacher (NDMC) | Graduate with B.Ed (Special Education), or B.Ed with a two-year diploma in special education, or a post-graduate professional diploma in special education, or an RCI-approved equivalent; CTET is compulsory |
TGT Computer Science (Advt. 03/2026) | BCA; or graduation with Computer Science studied in all years; or B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science or IT; or graduation with a DOEACC (NIELIT) 'A' Level course |
For TGT Computer Science, reports of the 03/2026 notice indicate that B.Ed and CTET are not listed as essential qualifications. Confirm this against the official advertisement before you rely on it.
DSSSB TGT Age Limit and Age Relaxation
The upper age limit for TGT posts is 30 years as on the crucial date. If your birthday falls close to the boundary, check the exact date-of-birth range in the advertisement instead of working it out yourself.
Category | Upper age relaxation |
|---|---|
SC / ST | 5 years |
OBC (Delhi) | 3 years |
PwBD (UR / EWS) | 10 years |
PwBD + SC / ST | 15 years |
PwBD + OBC | 13 years |
Departmental candidate (regular government servant with at least 3 years' continuous service) | Up to 5 years for Group B posts in the same or allied cadre, as per DoPT norms |
Ex-Servicemen | Period of military service plus 3 years, up to a maximum age of 55 years |
Relaxation for Guest and Contractual Teachers
Contract and guest teachers of the same department get a one-time relaxation equal to the time they actually served, up to 5 years. They must have worked at least 120 working days in each year being counted. This applies only to those who have not used this relaxation before.
Other Post-specific Relaxations
Government servants: The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for government servants under Central Government instructions.
Special Education Teacher (NDMC): A general relaxation of 10 years applies to women candidates for this post.
PwBD candidates: Relaxation applies whether or not the post is reserved, provided the post is identified as suitable for that disability.
Age Limit Update for Advertisement 06/2025
The subject TGT exams under Advertisement No. 06/2025 were postponed in December 2025 after the Delhi government said it would review the upper age limit. A proposal for a one-time age relaxation has been reported, but no change to the age limit has been notified so far. Until DSSSB issues a corrigendum, the 30-year limit and the relaxations above apply. Watch the official DSSSB website for any update.
Nationality, Category and Reservation Conditions
Nationality: Only citizens of India can apply.
OBC means OBC (Delhi): Reservation and age relaxation under OBC are given only to castes notified as OBC by the Government of NCT of Delhi. OBC candidates from other states are treated as unreserved and must apply under the UR category.
Outside-Delhi OBC certificate exception: An OBC certificate issued outside Delhi is accepted only if the community is notified as OBC by Delhi and the certificate is based on a Delhi OBC certificate held by the father, a sibling or a paternal uncle who lived in Delhi before 8 September 1993.
Certificate dates: For Advertisement No. 06/2025, the OBC certificate had to be issued on or before 7 November 2025, and the non-creamy layer certificate between 1 April 2025 and 7 November 2025.
PwBD: Only candidates with a benchmark disability get PwBD relaxation and reservation.
Ex-Servicemen: Those already re-employed in a civil post using ex-servicemen reservation cannot claim ESM reservation or fee exemption again, though age relaxation can still apply.
Attempts and Experience
DSSSB does not set a limit on the number of attempts for TGT posts. You can apply in every cycle as long as you meet the age and qualification rules on the crucial date. No teaching experience is required, either as essential or desirable.
Who Is Not Eligible
Most rejections happen at the e-dossier stage, after the exam, when the user department checks documents. These are the common reasons:
Below 50% in the degree: Candidates with less than 50% in the bachelor's degree and no qualifying master's.
Subject not studied long enough: The teaching subject studied for less than 2 years at graduation (3 years in an integrated course).
No B.Ed or CTET by the crucial date: Results declared after the closing date do not count.
Over age: Age above 30 years on the crucial date without a valid relaxation category.
Wrong OBC category: OBC candidates from outside Delhi who apply under OBC instead of UR.
Duplicate applications: More than one registration, or more than one application for the same post code, leads to cancellation and possible debarment.
Missed e-dossier upload: Not uploading documents within the given window ends your candidature, and no second chance is given.
Application Fee and Documents for the E-Dossier
Category | Fee |
|---|---|
UR, OBC, EWS (male) | Rs. 100 |
Women, SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen | Exempted |
DSSSB accepts every application provisionally and checks eligibility later through the e-dossier. Keep these ready in scanned form so you can upload them on time:
Academic records: Class 10 certificate for date of birth, graduation and post-graduation mark sheets with degree certificates.
Teacher qualifications: B.Ed (or integrated degree) mark sheets and certificate, and the CTET certificate.
Category proof: SC, ST, OBC (Delhi) with non-creamy layer, EWS or PwBD certificate in the prescribed format.
Relaxation proof: Service certificates for guest, contractual or departmental relaxation, or discharge papers for ex-servicemen.
